It's excellent but I have no idea who the artist/band is.

I suggested them though, because you can't link them to modern music and they break the mould. It's unfair to judge them as just another modern "The" band.

I could make a song with 20 songs in one. Doesn't make it a good song, good music or good to listen to, does it? But that's delving into whether your musical taste is more brown band or white band...

And he can't carry those changes off in a decent way, I've heard much better and how he does it doesn't raise my interest in the slightest.

Yes 'recently'.
I don't hold anything out at the moment in a high regard.

Like I said, the music was quite interesting: it's a shame the singer sounds like he wants to be somewhere else and the 'screaming' elements just don't cut it.
Now if you give some of those Ozrics songs a listen you'll find each one sounds like it has about 5/6 instrumental songs within each tune.
The Dears singer's a

Ha. Reading this back I still can't get over this. Yeah there are some quiter moments, but then there are some times when he's jumping all over the place and shouting or whispering, etc.
Even though their album has a "feel", the songs are pretty much each unique.
Look at Lost In the Plot. It's as if it's two completely different songs in one. Certainly not boring...
And besides, I like The Who.
Perhaps the problem could stem from The Beatles though. I'm not really into their stuff, so maybe that's the core divider.
You have actually proved a point I made ages ago about a lot of these 'The' bands like The White Stripes and these ones you've just mentioned. They seem to be very influenced by the 60's and early 70's (Rolling Stones etc) but not the 60's and early 70's that I myself like (The Beatles, Genesis, The Who). Consequently I don't like them and I probably never will.
At least with this new wave of 80's influenced bands I can pick a few songs that I like, as you've witnessed here ('oh that sounds like XTC I wonder what band that is?').
Now if the next crop of 'The' bands would like to be influenced by some of the bands I like out of the 60's and 70's I'll be much more likely to listen to them.
I don't like the Rolling Stones much, I never have and I never will. They're quite dull. I'd rather listen to more varied, extreme and/or original music than these RS wannabes thank you very much.
'Where the world begins...' by The Dears sounds like music off somesort of Murder She Wrote movie, it's not half bad later on.
Ok a few more tracks down the line and damn, The Dears singer's a boring little ****, I quite like the music but he's just so DULL! My early Genesis collection's better.
I take it you like a lot 60's stuff then?

Not just another bunch of "The" bands.
