Asking for a little piece of advise

Bought my PS2 in Feb time and have had no problems until late. The machine has recently started to make a loud wurring noise, I think you all know what I mean. I believe it is the fan, but a lot louder than usual. Now I have discussed this with someone at work and they say you are suppose to take them back if that happens. Can someone confirm this or has anyone had the same problem?

Cheers for any help.

I will give you an example and you can make up your own mind. Mine started a week ago with RR5 when I had it vertical, I placed it horizontal and it stopped. Now it happens what ever position it is in and what ever game I put in it. Over the week it has got louder than a comfortable TV volume. All I say is if it drives you mad or inconvenience you at all then send it back, better a multinational lose some cash than you. They can afford to.

Good luck.

One piece of advice thou, use the phone at work. I'm not sure if 0870 is free.

Sorry, but why shouldn't you keep it on the floor? is it because of dust getting into the fan? mines kept on the floor but on a vertical stand

My PS2 sometimes makes the loud wurring noise. It does it with Starwars sometimes and it has done it with the faulty MGS2 demo. Also when I got it Timesplitters made the console wurr. Should I phone Sony just to see what they say. It doesnt happen often and to make it stop I just reset the PS2. I dont want the PS2 to blow up on the 25th Nov 2001 as then that would be a pain as that would be 1 day after the warranty expires.

The PS help line number has changed recently to 0870 599 8877. After a 30 minute wait to get through to technical support, they were really helpful. I have a new PS2 arriving by courier on Monday.

Apparently you are not suppose to keep the PS2 on the floor, obvious when you think about it. I didn't know this so I thought I would pass it on.

Given that this site also sells games, hardware and the like, they may not look kindly on you dragging people away, so it's best not to post such links.

It was very decent of you to ask first though.

Hope you get your PS2 problem sorted swiftly.

I am reasonably new to this forum stuff. Are you allowed to discuss bargains on games, consoles, etc. I know this website has a shopping area and didn't want to get a bad rep for doing so.

Spotted a cracking 3 for 2 on PS2 games offer that I want to tell you all about.
