Asking for a little piece of advise

Bought my PS2 in Feb time and have had no problems until late. The machine has recently started to make a loud wurring noise, I think you all know what I mean. I believe it is the fan, but a lot louder than usual. Now I have discussed this with someone at work and they say you are suppose to take them back if that happens. Can someone confirm this or has anyone had the same problem?

Cheers for any help.

True, but it doesn't hurt to minimise it. Keeping the machine on a carpet will surround it with static, attracting more dust towards it - plastic case or not - which will then be sucked in my the fan.

Was that the one at WHSmiths? If so, I thought that stopped 22/5. I never bought any PS2 games in that because the offer stopped before the good ones were released. I did club together with some Uni friends to buy a DVD each at a reduced price. Jaws was £12!

Dust will get in no matter where you put it. Well unless you have a dust free enviroment which would be used for making hard drives e.t.c but iam guessing most people wouldnt have that. I have mine in my TV cabnet so its not on the floor but close. Dust will still get in if you have it on the floor or attached to the ceiling, whether its vertical or Horizontal. My PC fan is covered in dust and that is on a desk. I wouldnt have thought the static would be a problem for the PS2 as its got its plastic casing but mines at least a foot away from the TV anyway.

Nope. Somewhere flat and smooth, that's easy to keep clean and dust-free. not *too* near the TV - at least a foot away from the screen, as static can jump!

So next to the lovely knitted jumper that my Nan made me from Christmas, would be a bad idea.

Somewhere where there's little dust... and no static. Carpets generate static - static fries microchips... which is not good!

They say you shouldn't keep it on the floor full stop. Yep you are right because of dust getting into the components.
