Nintendo confirm a strong line up in America and Europe for the GBA in 2005.

In an attempt to quash the idea that the DS is to replace the GBA Nintendo have recently reminded gamers of several games due out in both America and Europe for the GBA.

Nintendo point out that a new NES classic series is set to hit American shores around March next year whilst European gamers are to get the second and third set at TBC dates next year.

Nintendo also paraded the new Harvest Moon, Banjo Pilot, Worms 3, Megaman Battle network 4, Tales of Phantasia and Wizards amongst the big third party releases along with Wario Ware 2, DK King of the Swing, Pokemon Emerald and Mario Party Advance amongst the first party line up.

Not amazing but a nice little line up of GBA games I might be picking up to play on my DS next year.

because then people have to have 2 handheld consoles and buy games for both (genious) so nintendo make more money and are more recognised because they have 2 consoles

Third pillar my ass. These are just the games Japan has already got/will get very soon that Nintendo are late to bringing out everywhere else.

Come Xmas 2005 I predict we'll see nothing like this lineup availiable.

A new Harvest Moon? Not on the DS?

We've always seen it for ourselves that the GameBoys are Nintendo's favourite consoles, anyway. :P

(Then again, this time, the 'Cube's line-up ain't too bad, either...)

The Japanese get an awful lot of popular third party GBA support.

And they'll now get a lot of popular third party DS support, as the GBA inevitably becomes less and less supported over the next year.

I think the GBA will be extinct within 18 months. Firstly because the games will reach a peak, and secondly because if they dont stop making games for it then people wont bother buying a DS. If they stop making GBA games then its likely that people will upgrade to DS. That seems to be the way its worked in the past, and to me it makes sence not to carry on making games for out of date machines.

DS is meant as a third pillar. That's how Nintendo are currently marketing it. Obviously, they can change their minds.

It wouldn't suprise me if they keep GBA SP going for a while yet until either interest is totally lost or the next Game Boy is released.

Um... the answer seems plain... make a multimedia console. Like N-gage or PSP, but it would actually be good because of Nintendo's inovativeness!
