Don't get me wrong, I love eating meat and I'm not going to stop.

But I might start avoiding KFC a little more.

http://www.peta.org/ Check out Pammie's video. It's explicit, and there were quite a few scenes that really sickened and shocked me.

I like PETA's methods, but I still don't think about becoming a vegetarian. Animal cruelty, however, is a different subject.

I don't eat chicken- I'm semi-vegetarian. I agree that if there's a deadly disease spreading in some which affects the human race, then they should be killed, but humanely.

Well, that's my dream for tonight sorted.

But of course it's not savage to kill animals to stop the spread of disease etc, but the WAY that they're killed is, that's what I mean. Survival is one thing, but going about it a bit heavy handed is a bit naughty.

If the animals are spreading or aiding the spread of diseases and contributing to the deaths of the people then I wouldn't say it was savage to kill them, and I wouldn't say that killing chickens in the street to protect your family was savage.

Oh, yah, but I'm under the impression the animals in the street are being killed for no more reason than population control ala fox hunting, which I think just about everyone agrees is barbaric.

I wouldnt say it was barbaric, if i remember correctly on the Chun-Li stage of street fighter 2 we see a chicken being throttled in the street. I think it's a sign of changing times and attitudes, why would a poor person build a shed to kill chickens in when the street will suffice? What difference does it make where you kill something?

As tempting as it is to take the moral high ground i would say the animals being killed in the street probably have a quicker death than those in the chicken sheds.

But.. isn't it quite barbaric to kill animals in the street? And yes they have a hell of a hard time and for us to sit back and point that out is, well, hm. But it's -still- savage.

I agree that it doesn't make it wrong, but there's also no denying that killing animals so viciously is unnecessary, and quite frankly rude. It's not really disgusting to think that, savage does appear to be the truth.

Some people can't afford to be concerned about animal welfare, mainly because they are dying and have to feed themselves, no matter what. If people had lived by your "morals" (inhumanely slaughtering animals = wrong) back in caveman times, we would have died out as a species a LONG time ago. People do what they have to to survive.

I think it's disgusting that you judge people who have to endure so much suffering as "savages", just because you have the luxury of a comfortable life and the time to worry about animal welfare and they don't.

Mm, that's my reasoning too behind avoiding as many companies as I can. I guess once profit margins and everything come into it, it's turning it all into some stupid system I guess.

Maybe your local butcher is your best bet for animals treated humanely during life and all, but I guess it's best to question everything.

I just really like meat :)

Terrible. Animals becoming nothing more products. The main reason I don't eat meat.
