Downloaded the demo last night. OMG, how much fun? Especially the High Jump event... Never laughed so hard at the expense of some poor sod being slung from his car in the name of entertainment.
Shame my beast PC has a CRAP graphics card...

sweet buggery!!!!! at only 20% the physics engine manages to impress, I can't wait to see what 100% looks like.
And I’m also having good fun with Flatout right now, a racing game using the same physics, crashing into a wall of tires then seeing individual wheel bounce around the track, hitting cars as they drive by. Impressive stuff.

It's the single most important step in gaming since 3d graphics!
My girlfriend was hear to utter "wow" when she saw me playing farCry, and the physics engine in Half life 2 (from what I've seen in the beta) are far in advance of FC too.
Whereas Farcry seems to be boxes and ragdolls only, HL2 seems far more immersive in it's game world. I spent about 3/4 of an hour throwing a matress around in the test level. Still, bung a grenade into a pile of wood and it took my old machine out............

Isn't that what the Grav Gun will do? looks like one of the finest in-game weapons ever conceived.
The physics engine in Half life 2 still looks impressive despite other developers nicking from it. Just playing the Office map on Counter Strike: Source, shooting out keys from key boards, the individual motherboards, Ram chips and 3D cards from Pc's then sitting back and admiring the destruction when a grenade causes huge a amount of objects to go flying about the place.
It's amazing how much something as seemingly unimportant as a physics engine can enhance a game.

Progress my dear boy. Progress.
Monkey Island 2 came on 12 amiga floppy disks. People complained thay had to buy a hard drive.
That would be funny. I think it would be expensive too if they did.

Damn, if there was a tool to pick up the bodies at key points (head, torso, left leg etc) I'd spend all day whacking them off rocks and stuff. The physics fascinate me (incredibly difficult to code though, most I managed was a column of stacking boxes.)
Like a cat playing with a mouse...................
