Has anyone got this that can tell me what it's like and whether it's worth it? Also can I just get a second hand one from for example Ebay and use that?

Freeview is cheap and once you've installed it, it's well ... free

It is worth it as you do get a lot of extra channels. It came with my t.v

Here's a list of highlights to get you in the mood (sorry, no scented candles)

5 - A unique channel, great if (like me) you can't receive it normally)
ITV 2 - Good for repeats of stuff you missed from ITV 1
ITV 3 - Good films
BBC 3 - The Comedy Channel basically
BBC 4 - Historical stuff
*Assorted Shopping Channels*
CBBC Channel - Kids tv
CBeebies - For the Little 'uns
*Assorted News Channels*
The Hits - Some good music, if a little too uber chart dross
TMF - Some good documentaries on Lifestyles and Good Music
FTN - Good programmes
Sky Travel - Fantastic, good programmes. Bit seedy post watershed mind
Televison X - Guess. Only abvailable if you subscribe
Yoo Play Games - Average. Only if you're extremely bored

And with the top-up packs you can get E4 and Sky 1

So yeah, tis good

Why would living in an area where Freeview is supported mean that you don't need a decoder box? That's just stupid.

All it tells you is whether you'll need to upgrade your aerial or not.

Oh hold on, maybe im reading it wrong on the website.

"Most UK homes are in a FREEVIEW coverage area. Use our postcode checker to see whether your postcode can receive FREEVIEW. If you are in coverage you should be able to receive FREEVIEW with your existing rooftop or loft aerial, provided they are in good condition."

So does that mean that if my postcode is in coverage my aerial can receive freeview channels without having to buy a box? Or does it mean I cannot get Freeview at all?

I don't want everyone to know where I live, but I live 'near' the Southend area.

EDIT | BTW, I checked on the website.

How can they not have Freeview in your area?
Where do you live?

It mainly sucks, but is better than normal, even rubbishier TV.

EDIT | Hey, that rhymes!

Because my freeview is crap. Looking back on it now, I'm not sure if it was the most effective method of getting that point across. Ah well, never mind.

Sky Travel has some great programs on late at night, just random 'club reps' type programs or roller coaster things.

There's some OK stuff on there, for £40 it's fine.

I thought you didn't have to top up or anything, you just pay £60 and have the channels that come with it.

I want it mainly for Sky Sports News and ITV2, the rest are alright.
