Has anyone got this that can tell me what it's like and whether it's worth it? Also can I just get a second hand one from for example Ebay and use that?

Do you think people will get your location and come around and rape you?

You wonder why people call you "Stridiot", but this thread is quite a good illustration.

Look - Freeview is a box that decodes digital signals. These signals are broadcast over the airwaves just like normal TV, but not all aerials are capable of picking them up.

If you have the right aerial, and live in an area which is covered by the digital signal, you can buy a freeview box and you'll get the freeview channels.

There is also an option to pay a monthly subscription and get some more useful channels like Sky One and E4, if you are so inclined.

It's not difficult and there is no reason why you should be so horribly confused about the whole thing.

A the good old Crystal Palace Tower.

You know, there is a story from an employee on the London Eye. He was in one of the pods with an American tourist, who spotted the Crystal Palace tower looming large over South London:
"Hey, is that the Eiffel Tower?"

Crystal Palace is a place, that's where lots of stuff is broadcast from in London.

Sky receives satellite signals. Freeview receives different signals.

You'll need a compatable arial, but you'll find out whether or not you need to change when you plug it in and it works/doesn't work!

Im confused, what does Crystal Palace mean? I have Sky downstairs in my house so surely I can receive all of the Freeview channels?

Anyway, if I can receive the channels what else do I need? Do I need a certain wire to get a signal or can I just use a normal Aerial?

Exactly how do they know what type of aerial you have? We had the standard one, but reception was crap, so we bought a beast of an aerial and fitted it ourselves. Whereas my grandad, who lives in the same city, a short distance from our house, uses his standard aerial and it's fine. It's all down to luck in the end (and geographical location).

Ah, thats the site. I couldn't find it anywhere.

I can get every channel back at home thanks to old Crystal Palace, but I don't get much up here.

I'm gonna get a box though, then crack it and get the free porn.

Go to http://www.dtg.org.uk/retailer/coverage.html and type your postcode in there. You'll likely discover you can receive some but not all freeview channels. I believe you get your signal from Sudbury (same as me, i'm in Colchester), and the ITV channels are very weak so that fact is likely causing the freeview site to say unavailable.
