Oh my, aren't you angry.

Well don't worry. All shall become clear.

I've been looking at the "winners" of the past console wars... and I've come to a conclusion.

If your console is made from black plastic, then it's going to get blown out of the water.

Don't believe me? Let's check the facts.
NES [Grey] vs. Master System [Black] Winner: NES
SNES [Grey] vs. Megadrive [Black] Winner: SNES, but not by much.
Saturn [Black] vs. PSX [Grey] Winner: PSX
PSX [Grey] vs. N64 [Black] Winner: PSX

And even though the Gameboy used four colours, all of which were grey, and the others were WAY advanced...
Game Boy [Grey] vs. Game Gear [Black] Winner: Game Boy
Game Boy [Grey] vs. Lynx [Black] Winner: Game Boy

See what I mean? Not convinced still?

32X [Black], Mega-CD [Black], 64DD [Black], Turbographix-16 [Black], Jaguar [Black], Neo-Geo [Black]

All failed machines.

It could be the other way around, saying that only grey machines are the best...

Your opinions please.

Just who exactly is going to buy the Gamecube??? Who is going to know it even exists??? Who is going to want a gamecube??? The console war which is going on will not be decided by people like you or me, we are passionate about our games, it will be decided by the mass market. Which console has the mass market heard of??? And which console has the mass market all to itself this christmas across europe??? Nintendo have never been a big player in europe and this will not change, it really doesn't care what happens over here. What they do have is a spark which no one else has at the moment coming out of E3, but they have to guard that and make it into a fire, if they do they might scrape through, if they don't, we might just see mario running around in a crach bandicoot game with sonic!!

PS, thats a little more sarcastic and exaggerated than it needs to be, but itll get the point across.

You can look at it which ever way you like, Bonus, but the truth of the matter is, that there is absolutely NO substitute for experience!

Nintendo KNOW the market, they know the people who buy games...they won't make the same mistake twice...

Reputation means a lot in Japan, companies like Konami won't sit in a sinking boat (The X-Box) any longer than they have to! Great, they've made a deal BUT only to make money.....you wait....when the sales figures come through after christmas loads of developers will jump ship...were to? No one knows...my guess - Nintendo.

Game, you are niave if you think that MS don't know what they are doing. They have been writing Dirsct X for about 5 years now and roughly 80% of PC games use this technology. They have a unique contract with Konami to see konami games go to the PC and Xbox and MS games go to consoles, Age of Empires Being the major ones. Microsoft also have Nvidia and Intel on board. Nvidia is the market leader when it comes to 3d graphics processors and hardware dogfights (the put 3DFX to sleep without batting an eyelid) and Intel have more experience in the hardware industry than Nintendo can shake their plump little plumber at, I wouldn't dismiss them just yet, and everyone forgets that
Sony already has a 12,000,000 user base already instaled in homes worldwide.

But the game are going to be £50 each, how do you advertise that as a good reason to buy one, and i'll agree they don't give up when things are tough, but every third party developer, jamp ship as soon as they saw the iceberg on the horizon, the same fate suffered by the DC.

Obviously you've never used the Nintendo 'ADV' PC OS...^_^...anyway....

Where gaming is concerned Microsoft's Name means sh*t and I apologise for the use of profanity, it's lame...I know, but it is the only way to compare Nintendo's vas**t market experience with Microsofts!

Microsoft are babies...you can't jus**t throw money at a machine....if there is a weak link in a chain it won't help to build up on it, you have to fix it! MS aren't doing this!

Their 3rd party support is VERY limited and they can't put massmarket pressure on such small companies! They'll crumble!

Take My Word for it...if it means pos**tponing till after chris**tmas so be it but the way things are looking Microsoft aren't going to get far!

And believe me, I want them to, I don't jus**t want Nintendo to sail smoothly, I want competition! And I would call the PS2 competition or for that matter the X-Box!

If only Mr. Microsoft and Mr. Sony were as clever as Mr. Nintendo!

Nintendo know the power of advertising. They certainly had everyone talking about their F1 game when it arrived on the N64 (who can forget the...'lets see that again!' advert?)

I think they will go all out for the Gamecube due to the current market trends in gaming and the way the market looks like it's going. Plus Nintendo remember the days when all consoles sold far less and only to true gamers, when gaming wasn't really something you confessed to in public if you were over 13! They won't give up if sales aren't good, but they also won't make the mistake of getting bad sales in the first place.

Word of mouth will also get them some customers, well, as long as I can keep going around telling everyone I know about how good it will be... ;-)

Yeah, but game they had more experience back then too, and it didn't do them any good. What has happened to change that?? Sony don't really know how to fail do they, everything they do becomes mainstream, walkmans, floppy discs, minidiscs, double density cds and the PSX just as examples.

pb hit the nail on the head, will nintendo have as many newspaper articles to let all those who aren't serious gamers to know thta the gamecube even exists?? I've no doubt Sony have already managed this and well, Microsoft is about 5 times as big as nintendo.

hmmm, interesting,

{sneaks around the shops with black paint can, waiting for Gamecubes}

No, seriously though, I think the Gamecube is looking very strong with a good games lineup, nice graphics and the industry getting very excited about it without the big 'push' that Sony gave its console (there's only so many newspaper adverts masquerading as articles on the PS2 that I can take)
