Well don't worry. All shall become clear.

I've been looking at the "winners" of the past console wars... and I've come to a conclusion.

If your console is made from black plastic, then it's going to get blown out of the water.

Don't believe me? Let's check the facts.
NES [Grey] vs. Master System [Black] Winner: NES
SNES [Grey] vs. Megadrive [Black] Winner: SNES, but not by much.
Saturn [Black] vs. PSX [Grey] Winner: PSX
PSX [Grey] vs. N64 [Black] Winner: PSX

And even though the Gameboy used four colours, all of which were grey, and the others were WAY advanced...
Game Boy [Grey] vs. Game Gear [Black] Winner: Game Boy
Game Boy [Grey] vs. Lynx [Black] Winner: Game Boy

See what I mean? Not convinced still?

32X [Black], Mega-CD [Black], 64DD [Black], Turbographix-16 [Black], Jaguar [Black], Neo-Geo [Black]

All failed machines.

It could be the other way around, saying that only grey machines are the best...

What about the PS2 and the PSone is not exactly a definate grey it is more wight and there are other colours for the N64.

It doesnt really matter what colour it is, its who has made it and how well it plays!

Yep, thats why they seem to have sold out and put Marion in Luigi's mansion. They could also make the gamecube buy, running promotions, national competitions and basically getting the word out to people, but they really need to start now. Sega tried, I remeber there being two Dreamcasts in my local Odeon about a year before it was released here, and Sony seem to be doing well with their competitions. I still think that they have lost too much ground to Sony already, especially now that companies like eidos are starting to get towards making a working profit each quarter, and games like Project Eden and a new Tomb Raider on the horizon, Nintendo may still do enough but it may be too late.

Hmmm...good point, BUT Pokémon is still quite a hitter in Japan and it is still the main focus of most Nintendo Stores and Magazines!

It is a craze that seems to be lasting quite a while and if used properly it could be a very effective tool in selling the Gamecubes and even the GBA's in time...BUT...

If Nintendo blitz the public with Pokémon this and Pokémon that they're sure to fall...they have tried so hard to get away fom the kiddie image and thatnks to a little 3rd party support and some qualit titles from many developers they have just about succeeded BUT put a Pikachu in the windown and they could blow thousands of potential Gamecube sales!

And remember it isn't just a user base they're losing it is about £60 for another 3 controllers say, on average 5 x £50 games.....modems other peripherals.....one user base lost can cost a company loads...times the non-sale money of about £150 by lots of gamers and you have quite a figure!

Nintendo can't afford to blow the Gamecubes potential with Pokémon...! Mario will make the Gamcube but Pikachu could BREAK it!

Thats what I said earlier on, the best way for nintendo to get the Gamecube into the mainstream is to start putting leaslets in with GBA's, GBC's and their games, they have the biggest franchise in pokemon also. Nintendo aren't all that great at drumming up mainstream, support because they do not have the money you think they do. The pokemon franchise is controlled seperately from the main company and moving money between the two might give them legal headaches and cash flow freezes, they need to be careful, pokemon has kept them afloat in this way, but it could also see them sink!!

TV advertising is VERY effective, it made me buy an Eric Clapton album just 10 minutes after I saw it!

Nintendo have a shipload of money and hey, you DON'T think they'll hype the Gamecube through the GBA sales...I do!
