Agreed it's an excellent film (my favourite war movie) but you simply can't compare it to Donnie Darko. That's like comparing The Lion King with The Big Lebowski.
However Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure is better than Donnie Darko. Although Bill and Ted is better than most films...
