I notice there has been a lot of talk about banned user etc on these forums lately and a lot of the problem has to do with swearing (I think) anyway I do understand that swearing is not really needed to express yourself and think its right and proper that its kept in check.

My kids do not here me swear in our home life so why should they be able read it on the forum? I do swear at work though but only in adult company and not in front of customers.

Do others feel the same way or should swearing be accepted as the norm on a forum?

But thats the trouble see a dont know half the words they come out with these days they have a whole new lot of swear words they have far more choice now than I had as a kid, but its wrong they should not be encouraged to use swear words on a public forum, its not teaching them anything is it not really.

Babble is a good word! but how about "word tthat should not be utterd" that would be smart :-) they must have the ability to filter and it would save them reading the postings for swear words

On this other chat room (Habbo Hotel) when someone put a 'swear word' the word BABBLE appears.I was about to swear on a post but decided to put the word 'poo' there instead.

Eating soup with a f**k is pointless. I'd rather use a spoon.

I dare say and am not generalizing (spell check) that most of the swear words come from minors on here and they may do it because it looks cool? who knows? but some times as you say a swear word in the right place adds feeling to the post, I do think that if its the problem freeola think it is then they should have the ability to filter swear words out? so if a swear word was written the forum would either see stars? or a different word all together? I do not understand why the ban folk for starring out swear words I mean yes you know what the person is trying to say but its not as bad as the real thing.

I stopped swearing on here ages ago and then, last night, I write a four letter word with the middle two letters starred out to illustrate that the staff see it the same as writing the whole word ... and I get a warning.

Dash.

I'm replacing anything I post containing swearing with [comment] now, as in "blah blah blah [naughty word] blah."

Or use words like sugar, darn or drat.

Words are words. I personally don't find the problem with them, and there's certain times only a [rude word] will do.

Also, read through some of the posts in the "what do you think" thread. would you like being called some of the insults contained within by your children? They can read them easily enoughm, and the posters don't get warned.

Still, SR rules are SR rules.
