"What?!? Are you mad? They're the scum of the Earth!"

Yes, I know that's what you all thought when you read the title and I probably would have thought the same thing too if one of you had posted this last year.

But...

The fact is I was actually starting to like them. OK the lyrics are crap and just make you laugh most of the time but there's something that they have that most pop acts don't have. Talent.

"omg u r jokeing dey dont av talent!!11"

It all started with ~that~ performance on Top of the Pops; the one where they sang live but only pretended to play the guitar and had a ghost drummer playing for them too. (As in we could all hear the drums but couldn't see where they were coming from!)

They've got that bad image from their early days and they can't shake it off. This is going to go against them obviously but they've still done really well. They've actually gained a lot of respect from me over the last year as they're now playing live, properly. They've got a drummer, they play live AND sing live too. If you didn't know their background they could easily be mistaken for a band that was formed from a few mates and were not manufactured like they were.

Look at the charts too, see the crap in there? The top 10 at the moment is probably the best I've seen it in ages, all the songs are at worst OK, apart from the X Factor one which is a cover and was only at number one because it was from X Factor. Just think of what it's like most weeks though with stupid one-hit-wonder-cover-versions flooding the place!

As much as we want to hate these 'rock bands' that keep popping up you've got to give them some support as they're helping to change the music scene away from songs such as 'F U Right Back' and 'Babycakes.' Could you imagine if Busted didn't exist but in place we had another (proper) boy band that just churned out crap over and over and never sang live? What would you rather have?

I also know they're gonna be making a new 'band' and are having auditions after the McFly gig. Everyone here moaned about it being crap but I'm gonna support them purely because although they'll be horribly manfactured they'll have a lot more talent than all the other crap in the charts. Plus after a few years when they mature they WILL start writing their own material just like Busted did. Unless they all argue and pull a 'One True Voice!'

I'd so rather have the charts full of Busted and McFly style bands than most of the other stuff in there because even though most songs will be crap there will still be songs in there that you will really like. McFly have released a few really good songs, Busted have released a couple of good'uns including Year 3000 which despite it's crappy lyrics is a great sing-a-long student song! This is also why I think Avril Lavigne is good, some songs are crap but most of them are pretty good when you compare them to others. She's doing her bit too to rid the charts of poo.

All in all though, you've gotta support them as they're helping sort music out. You'd be a complete idiot if you thought everyone was going to be buying 'proper' music so we may as well support the stuff in the charts that is gapping the void between utter crap and the 'good stuff!'

If they don't make their own music and don't sing live then they deserve every bit of a b********g that they get, but if they play and sing live you've gotta give it up to them as they've got talent, somewhere...

I agree. I happen to detest Busted but their target audience is not people of my age.

No they dont.
They're Westlife with 3-chord guitars.

I agree with everything Ph11lip has said, they're eternally preferable to the likes of Westlife, Blue and all the dance crap, not quite so manufactured, write their own songs and play their own instruments, you have to have something the kids can listen to in the charts.
They told the musical anti-christ (Simon Cowell) to get lost when he wanted to turn them into the next Westlife and for that they get some respect.

You're all parading around with a 'holier than thou' approach to your music, but you all seem to be forgetting that none of these groups were ever supposed to appeal to people like you.

This conversation is on a similiar level to a 20 year old arguing that The Tweenies is below him.

'Most acts'?

Most acts?

This is the reason why Busted should of burnt before it was even concieved. They don't. They waste space. Space that could be filled by a band/group/singer/musician who has something more to say than 'i luv gurls' or can rock better. Actually, my cat can f**king rock better than Busted.

What? Do you even know the music world?

Green Days' new album would never have had such a good

Yeah, because Blink 182 weren't popular beforehand. Skater-rock wasn't steadily being handed down the age groups, from the cool kid teens being emulated by 9yr olds. No. Busted kickstarted the rock revival. F**king Busted.

Jesus Christ, Busted exist in a dram world of 8yr old girls. They might play guitar. WOW! OMG!

I'll get you an article on it.

A few months back, around the time the Conservatives were doing their 2004 conference, Busted announced they were backing the Tory party to encourage younger people to get interested in politics.

See, this is what I'm on about!

They can play their own music, they can play live, they can play a guitar properly and not just 6 chords like you say and they sing live.

So what if they're manufactured? At least they've got more talent than most acts, and they've definitely got more talent than most people here!

I'm not saying I like them but they're good pioneers for changing the music scene. Green Days' new album would never have had such a good success rate if Busted hadn't been around. Just look at how much pop-rock music has taken off since they came about.

There's going to be lots of silly manufactured bands but if you look around the amount of 'proper' pop-rock bands is increasing. Although they don't play the same genre of music that most of you like they've definitely put more interest into rock music by doing what they do.

My sister used to like all sorts of pop crap. Atomic Kitten, Spice Girls, etc. Busted came along and changed all of that, she went from liking them, to liking Good Charlotte to now liking Muse, (who I'm sure have a lot more support on here than Busted or GC!)

Just think of Busted as being a learning block for kids.

Start with the basics and move to proper stuff late.

I actually find Busted a good band to act like an idiot too, leaping around like a fool. Juvanile but fun.

Better than Mcfly anyway.

And I will listen to post-hardcore band "fightstar" with an open mind.
