"What?!? Are you mad? They're the scum of the Earth!"

Yes, I know that's what you all thought when you read the title and I probably would have thought the same thing too if one of you had posted this last year.

But...

The fact is I was actually starting to like them. OK the lyrics are crap and just make you laugh most of the time but there's something that they have that most pop acts don't have. Talent.

"omg u r jokeing dey dont av talent!!11"

It all started with ~that~ performance on Top of the Pops; the one where they sang live but only pretended to play the guitar and had a ghost drummer playing for them too. (As in we could all hear the drums but couldn't see where they were coming from!)

They've got that bad image from their early days and they can't shake it off. This is going to go against them obviously but they've still done really well. They've actually gained a lot of respect from me over the last year as they're now playing live, properly. They've got a drummer, they play live AND sing live too. If you didn't know their background they could easily be mistaken for a band that was formed from a few mates and were not manufactured like they were.

Look at the charts too, see the crap in there? The top 10 at the moment is probably the best I've seen it in ages, all the songs are at worst OK, apart from the X Factor one which is a cover and was only at number one because it was from X Factor. Just think of what it's like most weeks though with stupid one-hit-wonder-cover-versions flooding the place!

As much as we want to hate these 'rock bands' that keep popping up you've got to give them some support as they're helping to change the music scene away from songs such as 'F U Right Back' and 'Babycakes.' Could you imagine if Busted didn't exist but in place we had another (proper) boy band that just churned out crap over and over and never sang live? What would you rather have?

I also know they're gonna be making a new 'band' and are having auditions after the McFly gig. Everyone here moaned about it being crap but I'm gonna support them purely because although they'll be horribly manfactured they'll have a lot more talent than all the other crap in the charts. Plus after a few years when they mature they WILL start writing their own material just like Busted did. Unless they all argue and pull a 'One True Voice!'

I'd so rather have the charts full of Busted and McFly style bands than most of the other stuff in there because even though most songs will be crap there will still be songs in there that you will really like. McFly have released a few really good songs, Busted have released a couple of good'uns including Year 3000 which despite it's crappy lyrics is a great sing-a-long student song! This is also why I think Avril Lavigne is good, some songs are crap but most of them are pretty good when you compare them to others. She's doing her bit too to rid the charts of poo.

All in all though, you've gotta support them as they're helping sort music out. You'd be a complete idiot if you thought everyone was going to be buying 'proper' music so we may as well support the stuff in the charts that is gapping the void between utter crap and the 'good stuff!'

If they don't make their own music and don't sing live then they deserve every bit of a b********g that they get, but if they play and sing live you've gotta give it up to them as they've got talent, somewhere...

I have to admit that Busted have helped my musical tastes and collection.

They were the samey pop band that pushed me over the ege and mad me obscenely angry that every radio sation, cd, etc was playing samey pop. It made me decide that I wanted to hear something different. It lead me into liking Babyshambles, The Dears, Kings of Leon etc. All alternate bands.

either you're SO tongue in cheek that you've lost all concept of reality, or you're going in for the "most wrong a person can be" olympics.

Busted worked hard. I can vouch for them on that point.

Y'see, I saw their work schedule for December, for all of one month they got 2 days off, and that includes weekends.

They're not entirely talent-less, they have to have had talent to be able to get their. I know that because I saw a draft of a poster recruiting a new band by their record label that demands talent.

It's all very easy to take the pish out of them, but I very much doubt you'll ever get it as good as they have.

The only thing I like about Busted is the fact that my mate rocks at extracting their urine.

That's it.

Ace.

Perhaps the Tories are now backing Busted to get old people interested in teeny pop/rock. Maybe that's what happened in this thread.
