Example: Guns n Roses version of Bob Dylan's classic "Knockin' on Heavens Door". Did Slash bring anything to the table with his wanky-wanky-woo solo, or does the original sentiment of the song prevent any further covers from having any credibility?
Remember that most of the pap we have in the charts now are covers, and make your decision wisely.
Best covers though? Ten Masked Men. They do metal covers of pop songs. Having a bunch of screaming guitars and a 40 a day "bwaaaahhhhhhhhh" growl performing Shakiras "Whatever, whenever" is a listening experiance and a half. You'll never find them in the shops (royalties) but p2p sites have them quite frequently.

You cannot be serious.

they're glorious.
they took "Hit me baby one more time" and anally raped it until it was good.
> Scissor Sisters > Pink Floyd - Comfortably Numb
*shocked*
That's just plain wrong.
You Really Got Me
I really don't know.
Van Halens is good, but it's such a good song in teh first place that well, I can't tell.
Verdict: No winner
It's so difficult to tell.
I have to go with Van Halen.
But, oh, The Kinks.
Damn.
Van Halen.
No. The Kinks.
No Van Halen.
Yes. Van Halen.
Fudge Tunnel - Sunshine of Your Love
Clutch - Crazy Horses
Johnny Cash - Hurt
These covers are, for me, better than the originals.
And before a couple of people starting scratching their heads, I prefer the Cash version because of the poignancy of it

True, I was being generous to the paedophile.
