Going to have a little mini-rant on two players opening their big fat gobs - Alan Smith and Terry Henry

Firstly Smudger - What in the hell are you on about calling Ronaldo selfish. Hmmm where have all these black pots and kettles come from? That's what makes Ronaldo dangerous, just running at players with the ball and not caring about where the team is until he gets around the by line area and after about the 7th stepover. I was watching the Villa game and it was like a different Ronaldo, he began to run at a player and then stopped to look for a pass only for that numpty (usually Smith or Fletcher) to lose it. You wouldn't stifle Giggsy's creativity don't bloody do it to the Portugese wizard. And even when he does set up a move you still can't bloody score from 3 yards out. Now zip it because you're far easier to replace in the squad then Ronaldo is.

secondly Mr Henry decides to flap his gums about Man United and Chelsea buying players while Henry is happy Arsenal play the youth. Ah yes Henry would that be great home grown talents like Jose Reyes? Matthew Flamini? Cesc Fabregas? Gael Clichy? Ah yes great home town boys there. Are United and Chelsea taking money from little orphans to buy their players? Nope i don't think so so what business of yours is it about who we buy and how much for. Or again it could be because your frightened? Chelsea far away in the distance, United nippin at your toes, is that a bit of fear in your eyes Henry? Oh sorry you're French it's always there :-D

zip it both of you numpties and concentrate on the football. Gary Neville can talk enough for everyone :-D

I wouldn't call Cristiano Ronaldo "selfish", as such - but I'd certainly say he's the type of young player who enjoys playing to the crowd with the one 'gimmick' of his that has made him such a 'star' across all of Europe.

Sometimes, such as when he first joined our first-team, it really did work wonders. Now, however, it's just so tired and old. We know what he's gonna do; one-way or the other. Defenders can see it coming. At times, he seems he knows nothing else of his game.

How often does he get the ball in the box soon after recieving it?
Or, to rephrase that... How often do you see him opt for the early ball to penetrate the defence (as Giggs or even Beckham would do), when instead, he likes to cick his heels and flick some tricks for the nice camera man over there (and MILLIONS of people watching the game from all around the world)...?

He still has an awful lot to learn, I feel. More so than trustworthy Alan Smith, who will ALWAYS give you all he can. He's never make an immature attacking descision. Sure, he may've hit the bar and he can be a little rash in the tackle... But, his commitment for the TEAM is there. He knows where he should be looking; he knows where the ball needs to go.

There's not an awful I can fault Ronaldo for at this early stage in his career. I thought he was superb in Euro 2004 when Portugal needed the Luis Figo who's legs appeared to have gotten the better of him.

If Ferguson can curb the attention-seeking nature of this young man's game, we'll all be far better off for it, I feel. Ronaldo will be better off for it.

Right, ive either misread the original post completley wrong or i'm stating the obvious here. He said he's happy playing the youth, yes? That bares no relation in my mind to home grown talent. Youth of all nationalities, dont see the problem. Youth doesnt automatically mean home grown talent.

Or am i being dense?

If ya got the cash...Probably wouldnt have bought rooney had newcastle not come in, but united wernt gonna let him go considering players like ronaldinho, Rivaldo and Shearer had been missed out on in the past.

At the end of day Wenger has had to buy these cheapo youngsters becasue the money just isnt there.

"And how old are the players that Chelsea and Man Utd bought?"

Chelsea is a different matter considering their supply of money, but united...

Smith - 24
Bellion - 20
Rooney - 19
Ronaldo - 19
Pique - 17
Rossi - 17

Yes, a few of them cost a bit, but so did reyes.

And how old are these players?
That's right.

And how old are the players that Chelsea and Man Utd bought?
Yeah, glad we've cleared that up.

I should make it clear that I'm not disagreeing with you though. I'm simply pointing out that ManYoo/Chelsea bought already somewhat established/older players, whereas Arsenal bought younger talents that can be developed.
