What hard rock bands would you recommend? Trying to find some that I can buy on CD.

...And Justice For All is good, but it sounds rather flat and becomes pretty tedious. Still, it was the album where Metallica were at their most progressive. Up until the Black Album, Metallica didn't make any real mistakes musically- going for a more melodic and less harsh style was a good move financially, but for me it killed off an amazing band, as they all but shed their thrash style. With the exception of some great covers on Garage Inc, Metallica spent the 90s stagnating, culminating with the abhorrently awful St. Anger.

The first three are hotly reccomended by me, especially Master Of Puppets, a true metal masterpiece.

I got the same EP. It is a fantastic song. I probably paid too much for it (£7.99) but it is really very good. I wouldn't really class them as death metal because they just don't seem dark enough. They are insane, but not in a satanic way.

One of my mates showed my their CD today, he said it was their EP which was only 1 track, but it was 20 minutes long!! He said they were 'death metal' but not having heard them i cant comment. I know the guitarists uses a custom 8-string guitar so i suspect they sound just a little heavy!! Most people regard 7-string tuning as extreme.

St Anger was easily the worst of all their albums. It sounded like it was recorded in a public toilet. Master of Puppets was the best.

METALLICA! but nothing from St. Anger. It's rubbish. Lars Ulrich's drum sound is the funniest thing I've heard in years.
