This is tradegy of a phenominal scale. I cannot even contemplate that many human lives ending at once, and on christmas. Its a sick thing.

******

127,000 was the final count, although its feared it was somewhere closer to 150,000. All I want to add is not to those who died, but for the survivors, I hope things don't get to hard for you and I wish you the best of luck.

I'm sorry, but you're all incredibly over exaggerating the concern expressed for the British tourists.

"Ooh, look at me appearing all humane and caring for the thousands of Asians ooh"

Perhaps if you had relatives in the middle of this disaster you wouldn't mind them mentioning on the news on how the british tourists are doing rather than ignoring them.

That's because british tourists tend to have british relatives who are more than likely, extremely concerned and worried and have no way of contacting them to see if they are alright. I was concerned when my parents were in Turkey during a rather big earthquake several years ago. So it's normal for them to ask how the british tourists are.

I havent been watching the news so I'm not really sure how concerned they are about the british tourist, I just hope lots of aid is being sent out and very quickly.

did you watch the itv news special at 8 tonight? Worst bit of news coverage i think i've ever seen. The reporter sounded like he'd been watching too much America's wildest police videos with Sheriff John Brunell with all his cliches while they show clips of the dead. Tasteless.

and every 2 minutes *10 british tourists are dead............oh and 12,000 sri lankans dead to*

Claire wont be happy with your God-sullying.

It's sick though - I dont think most of them are Christians so don't celebrate Xmas so it lessens the tradgedy a tiny bit.

Awful though.

The thing that sickens me in on the news theyre asking "Are the British tourists ok though? screw the thousands dead, the BRITISH TOURISTS!!!!" Pretty sheety.

yup apparently unlike the Pacific they don't have a warning system (just last year the government didn't deem it necessary when it was brought up) so there was no way to be able to alert the people in time. The pictures that were being shown were extraordinary to watch.

But yes there'll probably be religious fruitcakes coming out the woodwork saying this is the start of the end of mankind, we're all doomed blah blah blah. Can't wait
