Course there is; someone with a mass of self inflicted scars who then goes out of his/her way to tell everyone about it.

I cut my nails, if that counts.

Well, I bite my fingernails.
I cut my toenails though.

Hmm...I think we'll have to agree to disagree there.

You haven't. But if someone is gouging chunks out of themselves, it's not much of a leap to assume they've got some severe problems with low self worth. Plus I'm working off of my experience with the former Mrs Light.

Like I say, I think we'll have to disagree. There seems to be no effort made by the people who cut to take responsibility for their own well being. I regard cutting as a big old shout of "Look at how vulnerable I am. Please help me." Yeah, there should be understanding shown to a degree, but I genuinely think that most of the people who cut really do need to grow up.

Balls. Y'know why the former Mrs Light cut herself? Cos she was too meek to tell people at work that she didn't like the way they talked to them. That simple. No, it's not gonna be as simple as that in all cases. In fact I have little doubt some people who've cut themselves WERE victims of some sort of horrid nastiness. However, in those cases it's not about solving the problem of the cutting; that's nothing more than a symptom. It's about helping the poor sods deal with whatever they've been through.-

I don't believe it's unwillingness, i just think most of them dont believe there is a problem and they are just being weak as is the opinion of the public en masse.

When have i said that they dont care about what other people think of them ?

I think they need help and it would nice and simple to believe they could just sort it out on there own but it's not like that, as cliched as it is first thing you need to do is admit the problem in the first place but then i can go back to how cutting is percieved, a vicious circle.

I fail to see why you would hold someone in contempt for being ill, being abused as a child or god knows what else, you can look at how they are or you can look for why they are, i go with the latter.
