FFII probably just pips it, but it's close...
Every FF >> 8 actually
Personally, FFIX was one of, if not the greatest Final Fantasy ever.
But I have a thing for midgets, so...

Are we three agreed on FF9 > 8 as well?
Which it was.

I wasn't saying FFX-2 sucked because of the lack of summons, i was merely pointing out to the topic creator summons had been around for longer than 4 games in the series.
No FFX-2 sucked for the same reason FFX did to me - boring characters and a boring storyline, which was basically pandering to the horny 12 year old market in the guise of a J-Pop inspired RPG and was just an excuse to release another FF without having to bother with coming up with a new world or new characters to milk money from the consumer.
Saying that nope i'm not a fan of the FF really, up until Tactics i was then it went downhill. Give me a Nippon Ichi Software, Suikoden or Dragon Quest game anyday
Especially if you've played 10 and realise they've put absolutely no effort into designing new areas to visit. It started out pretty well with the mountain-top place: more of that and I may have been slightly impressed.
But all the 'new' areas were made of square, brown corridors. woo!
And the whole premise was irritating, and the percentage completion thingy painfully flawed and punishing to all but exactly the right actions, even when it seems you have a choice.
The job-type system was a plus-point, I'll give you that. A good effort, allowing a good range of stuff when you're fighting exactly the same enemies from FFX.
The lack of summons was the icing on a terrible story-cake.

It's utter toss, go back to Manchester.
Dirty yob.
