Out of interest homish, and you dont have to answer this, but Im curious as to why you dont want to have a girlfriend?

I respect what you and your mom have, and its impossible to compare people emotions towards parents, just because there isnt really a scale as such. Im sure everyone here loves their parents. some more openly than others. Ive never told my mom I love her.

yes homosh. the love of my life, meaning the one person in my life I truly love. Its not just attraction or infatuation because we spend hours every day talking (long distance) just to be in contact.

Its not about being perfect. perfect is such a closed idea that perfection is so uniform its undesireable. Its about what you see as being normal and what really is normal. there are children who do things like hit their moms and get guns just because they think its normal.

Its not that common for parents to put their kid in a orpanage, more likely a foster home,or social services taking the child away because it was mistreated.

where are you btw?

uh. not really. even though you can unconditionally love your parents you can still unconditionally love a spouse, moreso than your parents. if most people did then they'd live with their parents all their lives instead of a spouse.

Um... But it already had been proven. Why would I go out of my way to reprove something?

Oh yes. Because somebody from a forum told me to. Okay.

That's my point exactly. I don't have a girlfriend, and I'm not going to have one, so I'll never get married.

No, don't get me wrong. You think my mother is one of the mothers who keep bossing their sons.Actually the relationship between us is unique. I know she is wiser than me, so I always ask her for advice myself. sometimes she even asks me what to do when she has problems. It's like friendship multiplied by 10000.

The love of your life ? Get real.

Why would I care ? Nobody is perfect. Even me. And even you.

That's strange, I have never heard about anything like that, maybe it happens in the U.k, but it never happens here.

Which just proves me correct. Friends can lose their love, lovers can lose their love, but a mother can never do that.

WHY would a mother do that? thats not an argument. Sometimes parents will get abortions and put their kids in orphanages but rarely. I dont understand why people would do that. There is a strong maternal bond with your own bloodline, however sometimes couples feelings change over time, or they realise they werent in love after all. You can unconditionally love your parents and sibblings, even friends. When people are really in love the unconditionally love their spouse too.

homosh, you remind me of Patrick McGuire, from Patrick Kavanaghs poem "the great hunger". Basicly in Ireland in the 40's and before what happened was sons wouldnt get married until their mothers were dead, cos it was their duty to take care of them. So McGuire gave up the life of love and convinced himself he wouldnt need it and lived a really sad life, JUST cos his mother was alive.

anyway.

so...loving your partner more than your parents is....screwed up? Um...I hope you realise that your situation is pretty unusual. Im not saying you shouldnt feel like that..but Im just asking you to give all those billions of couples in the world the benefit of the doubt. You come across to me as one of a dying breed of sexually repressed ...for want of a much better, kinder word, mothers boys. The kind of stereotype who cant do anything without asking 'mother' first. I dont mean to be harsh, but thats what Im getting.

wow..... thanks a lot. that really makes me feel incredibly great about my love life. Let me rephrase that. you can tell me its a dillusion, I just wont listen cos I know the truth.

its typical eh? so how many other people here feel the same way?
