I think the Zen is pretty independent, not just *another* product turned off an assembly line of which there are 20,000 different products, etc.
At least the sweatshop where the Zens are made don't deal with that many different things, and the stuff they make is generally sound products.
If you've ever used the Sony Sonicstage software you will know how it can push sane men (and women) to edge of keyboard/mouse/monitor destruction.
Don't bother with the Sony - they've entered the arena too late and it's crap anyway.
