Saw this outside the bus stop. All is good other than the button placement; again Apple trumps over with simplicity. Other than that though, the Sony wins all round.

Urgh, really?
You have to change iPod files to something or other too don't you, I guess it is just part of the actual apply-to-device process, not something you have to do file-by-file. Or at least I hope.

The battery life is a big improvement on the pod, 30 hours compared to about 10 or whatever the iPod is.
The display doesnt look as nice, but that's not exactly mandatory to making it good.
Sony are sound experts too, whereas Apple arent particularly.

iPod - 4.1" x 2.4" x .57"
Sony - 2.5" x 3.6" x 0.6"
It's certainly smaller than the Zen and iPod and it looks quite good, it's got good battery life too unlike iPod.
Go for it, then you can tell me if it's crap or not!

It does look nice, sony do make good walkmans, and the battery life is very nice.
I see no downsides to it actually, i guess its just what you prefer.
