I went into my local GAME yesterday and to my amazement the Gamecube shelf space has shrunk even smaller. It really was a pitiful sight and quite embarrassing for a die hard Nintendo fan.
The shelf space is now just one block. There were the usual top five slots which were virtually empty and then the 'selection' of naff games underneath. Now yes I suppose you could look at it 2 ways, either they've all sold out (which is laughably unlikely) or that GAME just can't be ars*d with the Gamecube anymore (which I KNOW is whats happening).
Woollies now have hardly any Gamecube stuff. Dixons, Currys, Comet and all those electrical retailers stopped selling it months ago and it looks like even GAME are now on the 'dump Cube' runaway train.
3 years into the life of the N64 was better than this and that was considered a commercial flop.

Well for starters GAME tends to sell a lot of choice, it is places like Woolworths, Argos and the such like that only sell the best selling. And I'm not finding it hard to buy games. This Christmas saw a massive rise in Internet shopping, a massive rise. Christmas sales in stores were abysmal.

What I was saying was that in my local shops (who I rarely buy from) there are many Gamecube games. In Cambridge there are many Gamecube games, in Huntingdon there are many Gamecube games, in Bedford there are many Gamecube games... there are in Stevenage, Hitchin and Peterborough too. These confessingly are all in my area but I'd imagine this extends further.

At the front of GAME stores there is not a PS2, X-box or Gamecube section. There is a section called "NEW RELEASES" here the companies who make the games pay GAME to put their titles here. Sometimes you get special box displays at the front too. GAME advertise the new releases and you get Gamecube games here just as much as PS2 or X-box. MAjor multiformat releases are always there and major releases for all consoles are. These are what gets advertised. GAME have the individual console sections at the sides and I doubt this has any effect on anything.

A: Internet shopping, it is massive, most people do it, Gamecube stock aplenty.
B: GAME do sell a nice selection of old and new Gamecube stuff. Sure it is crammed into a small section but there is a lot there.
C: Gamestation ALWAYS has s*** loads of Gamecube stuff, EVERYWHERE, loads of it. True Woolworths, Virgin, HMV, Choices etc... only stock the recent released or best selling games. But that applies to all consoles. The fact is Metroid Prime, Spideman, Pokemon Colleseum, Mario Kart and Sonic (and a few EA sports titles) are the best selling GAmecube games and everything else barely sells at all. So these are the only games you'll find in these stores. But they also only stock a limited PS2 and X-box line up.
Sure it is a larger line up than the GAmecube's but that's because there are more good selling titles.
There are hundreds of independant retailers that stock GAmecube software, the BIG GAME chains such as GAmestation, GAME, Gametron and SR stock loads of Gamecube software and there is never a shortage on the internet.
There is nothing to cry over.
The Gamecube section/stand thing probably only measured about 1m x 1.25 metres and had a few games on it.
No accessories, they've even stopped selling the console for christs sake.
The Game store I used to work for in Cardiff used to somehow know the games charts before the games were even released.
Funny that.
They told gamers what to buy - regardless of system or availability. They told them which games were bestsellers when we all knew they weren't.
> Well that might be because there isn't as many games???? Just a

Ther are hundreds upon hundreds of Gamecube Games. What ar eyou on about. Seperate GAME stores don't stock ALL the PS2 and Xbox games EVER MADE, do they? The selection from which they would choose is equal in all three stores.

No you can get a gamecube game if you want one, but if the choice in each shop is limited to the top 10 releases, then you WILL struggle to get games that you want, aren't you? That's possibly the stupidest thing you've EVER said. Less choice = less choice there are no two ways about it! If GAME stock less and less gamecube games in their stores, then that's less of choice for you the consumer as to what games you get. This is increased as other stores stop selling such a range of GC games. Come on, Dringo, it's simple logic.
Sure some chains stop selling but, in my small

Well that's fine and dandy for you, but there are a lot of people who's only access to game retailers is their local GAME store, so just because it doesn't affect you that doesn't give you the right to tell other people to sht up for complaining.
> How many people do you see go into a shop and go "oh look, stock

Actually I'd bet you that that happens quite a lot. Advertising is advertising. Shops do it because IT WORKS. It gets the consumer to BUY THE GAME. If you don't advertise your games then no one will know about them, and then who's gonna buy them?
> Nintendo sell more consoles world wide, who cares if the games are at

It makes a hell of a lot of difference. I don't care if Nintendo are the no1 porn distibutor in Japan, or if they have a GC in every home in America. What I care about is the availablity of games in the UK, where I live. If I go into GAME or gamestation or Virgin, find that the only games I can buy are the top 5, which I will most likely already own, then I certainly care, so don't tell people to shut up for getting annoyed when their choice is limited by retailers.
I'd like to know profit margins/sales since nintendo started. Its obvious gaming has grown so more customers are around, so maybe even thou they have a smaller fan base than the others they stil have more than they had? (hope that makes sense) They must still be in profit so its not like they will close down or anything.
Stores want maximum profit, and judging from personal accounts (friends/family/people at uni) the majority of them who have a console only really know about the games like Halo/GTA as they are advertised etc so only tend to buy them or buy the games because "the pictures on the back looked good". It seems that the people actually running the way how the gaming industy/stores adjust are people who dont actually know much about gaming at all and rely on adverts/"cool" pictures to make thier choice.
These peoples shouldnt labeled as gamers...
Now I managed to get him to buy it for cheap cause of a couple fo games, he's addicted, and even willing to try things like Pikmin.
Too much emphasis is placed on image. People who try the thing often really like it!
Yes, the GC is gathering a tasty income over other parts of the world, but here - reception is just luke warm at the current moment in time.
I wish Nintendo would step in at this point and encourage the retailers to stick by the console.

if they didnt release metroid prime 2 echoes this christmas then they would of got in even more trouble.
