Gran Turismo 4. Better than any half baked Project Gotham effort the XBOX can cook up. There are no rivals for it on any console, especially the XBOX.

Quake 3? Deary me you REALLY need to play some better games. And have you EVER played your PS2 online? It's really really not worth it.
The only games that I can ever think of that are worth the price of the PS2 are GTA (comes out, and is better on PC/Xbox), PES4 (same deal) and MGS3. Apart from that there's really nothing.
Well yeah PS2 is great if you like spending money to play with 4 players, but i prefer it free out of the box (multi-tap)
I got a PS2 at the start cause of mainly GTA/MGS2/FF series. MGS2 was a let down, it wasnt bad just wasnt as good as i expected, i also then got a better PC so i had GTA and FF on that. So i got rid of it and used the money for the GC.
GC is better for me, people look for different things. Controller feels nicer and it has nintendo games, obviously. The few games i miss out on (being released on Xbox/PS2) i get on PC or can cope without them lol. DVD play back doesnt bother me, it wasnt that great a quality, and i have about 3 DVD players at home and a collective 15 at uni to use :x.
At first i only knew one person with a GC, everyone had a PS2, so checking out games etc was a problem. But now at uni we have 4 GCs and 6 Xboxs...plus we dont borrow games, we just crash into their room for the night ;)
And I mean, a real chore

Yes, it can actually.
Oh, and the games you listed aren't anything special- with a few of them being cross-platform.
GTA series
GT series
Quake3
Conflict Desert Storm
Jak and Daxter
F1 series
Need for speed
Burnout
The Sims was quite a good port from PC - if you like that sort of thing.
PS2 could play DVD's straight away - which was hand when it was the only DVD player in the house - less so now as nearly every room has a DVD player.
Plus you can go online with PS2. Can GameCube do that in the UK?
I only like PS2 for 3
