No, don't report me to the games police just yet.
Sometimes I think, should I still be playing games at my age? Well, the thing is, yes!
You see, my generation was were it really started to kick off. We were the ones who had the first taste of what laid the foundations for the consoles of today.
The Nintendo Entertainment System, the Sega Master System. We played Sonic and Mario when the mere thought of Sony enjoying the success they do now would have been laughed off as being ridiculous.
The original GameBoy is now transformed into the Nintendo DS. And Sony have an amazing handheld console coming out too. Who would have thought?
I can't see my enjoyment of games ending though. I mean, why should it?! I don't have to listen to Radio 2 or drive a sensible car. And I'm not going to.
18 rated games weren't needed (or wanted) when I was young and yet the Grand Theft Auto series are now one of the most successful titles ever released.
So play. Play lots. And forget about thinking whether you should be doing it anymore.
In the meantime, I'll be waiting for my Nintendo DS and copy of Mario 64 DS to arrive. And yes I will be running to the door like a child when the postman comes....
All I can say is - you're never too old for gaming. I don't intend to give it up at all. It's a great form of entertainment - sometimes even my favourite.
And even though I'm 21, I'm still glad I can claim to have been there when the industry was in it's infancy and seen it grow. I only really missed the 'birth' as it were, but still caught up via Retro gaming :D
