Basically, I was getting p!ssed off with so many computer users not know basic things to do on their PC (like defrag) and so deciding to upgrade their PCs cos they get slow. Then they moan about having to continually upgrade their PC. Or people who get viruses cos they open attachments and have no idea what a firewall, or antivirus program is.
So I decided to start a website full of articles, tips and tricks, links and downloads for things to help people use their computers more effectively. The site will be available for people to use for a membership of £10 a year (probably).
The site is still very much in developmental stages at present. So please ignore all the content - all the articles/etc will be new on the final site (loads of piccys, step-by-step guides, etc). I know the site doesn't look really fancy, but I'm no creative genius. My main intention is to make the site really easy to use for someone who's not very good with computers.
I would welcome your opinions on the site. If you find any bugs as well, please let me know. If pages don't work, it's cos I haven't made them yet.
The website address is: http://www.xymail.co.uk/xyhelp.com/ http://www.xymail.co.uk/xyhelp.com/
You can log on with: Username - test; Passowrd - test
The site is running off my PC atm, so if it doesn't work, it probably means my PC is off or something.
Cheers in advance.

The text it too condensed together and blocky, could be worked a bit to be a little more appealing to the eye. Design goes beyond the images/style and should also be applied to textual layout too.
People scan things quickly for what they're looking for, so use of bullets, embolding and blockquotes help the user locate what they are trying to find quicker.
Unless you use FF and just type what your looking for!;)

How d'ya mean?

Really like the premise behind it. Good possibility of pay per content too. FWIW, you need a good designer/type setter

In short, no. You'd have to convince them to allow you and then pay hefty royalties for their use.
Is there any disclaimer thing I can use to allow me to use the MS icons? At the end of the day, I am offering effectively help for their OS. Or do I need to make my own icons - noooooooo! I'm not artistic!! Lol

Nothing personal, but I hate those damn images for vaildation at the bottom!
http://www.xymail.co.uk/xyhelp.com/articles.php Will get you into a lot of trouble over copyright. And beleive it or not M$ are very @n@l about the use of their Icons, I know this from personal experience.
Other than that. Nice and there's some excellent potential there.
Oh, that's the other thing. Ignore the picture on the front page, cos I just stole that off Google Images as a sample photo. My eventual picture I want to be good, but it'll take me weeks to make something look professional. Similarly with the top banner, the banner will probably involve the keyboard image, but will hopefully be improved to look a bit less tacky.
