A friend of mine is having problems with Internet Explorer.

Whenever it's opened it says "Microsoft internet explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvience. if you were in the middle of something the information you were working on might be lost"

And it gives the options to "restart IE" or "Tell Microsoft about this problem"

Anyone have an idea how they can sort it out?

Give me a shout here of msn if you can help.

She says "thanks"

On my old installation I had an extension so that when I hit Ctrl+Tab it would load my homepage (www.google.co.uk) and not a blank screen. Does anyone know what that is called?

Checky
Web Developer 0.8
Javascript Debugging console

other than that, my fave feature is setting multiple tabs as your homepage.

Open all the sites you use often in seperate tabs then:

Tools > Options > Use current Tabs

Bingo, Open FF and it loads all of your most used website in one go.

Firefox from my point of view, as a developer, is a god send.

And tabbed browsing makes this easier as hell. Nice and clean taskbar at the bottom!

Yup. And I do make use of the links on the toolbar as well. I never took to the favo"u"rites menu on IE because for things like hotmail, it was quicker to type: F6, hotmail, Ctrl+Enter than it was to go to the link on the favo"u"rites menu.

Now I just have buttons for useful things: Met Office, SuprNova, RadioTimes, xyhelp.com Offline, Forums, xyhelp.com

Firefox is much more powerful and user friendly than IE. How I ever got by without tabbed browsing I don't know. I used to like the fact that each title would appear seperately on my taskbar, but I tend just to skip back to Firefox then Ctrl+Tab to other websites. What I do now is have one Firefox open for one task.

For example, whilst I've been working on this new website, I've had one Firefox instance with phpMyAdmin, the website itself, a whois, etc. Then I have another instance of Firefox with other windows open - these forums, etc...

Her then.

That just shows you - the moment I read IE, I panicked.

The most idiotic thing you can do is tell her to keep on using IE.

Install Firefox, Problem solved :-)
