Another free game up for grabs - best walkthrough/guide gets the prize. I'll let Silent Thunder give you the lowdown:

A walkthrough for the forums. Maybe it could help all the nice JATs and newbies by getting to know all the users. Basically you take the whole list of posters, I think the top posters for the last 30 days would be best as these guys and gals are still around and write a little guide to them. Whether it be they eat newbies or adore them and what forums they hang out in etc. It would be nothing personal like "They like chips and pizza" because well.. it's the Internet. Just a little friendly guide to all the users.

Also when ether a JAT / Newbie signs up they will probably feel slightly overwhelmed, this can easily be solved with a guide to the forums and how to get started. And where to post certain topics etc.

And like all the Extra GADs you obviously won't want it to be too serious so the guides would try to be comical and slightly 'wacky' as it were. Also improving the atmosphere of the forums to new users, if they see a serious walkthrough / guide to the users and forums they will think: boring. But seeing a funny one will make them want to stay because ukchatforums.com is a fun, friendly place.

So a summary:

> A guide to all the forums on ukchatforums.com, what to post where etc.

> A guide to the top 100 posters in the last 30 days or something a long these lines - just make sure the guide covers all the members who are still around.

> A guide / walkthrough how to get started at ukchatforums.com E.g. Introduce yourself in General Chat

You guide won't have to follow this exact structure, but gives you a good idea of what we're looking for.

Best entry will of course win a game of your choice and hopefully see your thread stickied for all to see.

Closing date is 10pm on October 14th.

Good luck to all who choose to enter!

It does seem that you're only chances of winning are copying and pasting chunks of other peoples' entries.

You look pretty stupid. At least admit you're crap, don't cover it up with the old "It was a joke, I swear!"

You're not fooling anyone.

Shouldn't leave things to the night before.

Not much competition, I think I might enter it.

Chances are that if you are reading this, then you are new to the forums, welcome. The best way to make a good first impression is to post in the right forum, there are 14 at the time of writing and each has their own unique slant. Your first port of call should be General chat, this is where the everyday banter goes, also as it's the most popular its a great place to introduce yourself.

It should also be noted that text talk is generally frowned upon, it may be faster to type for some people, but when other users have to use an enigmah machine to decrypt what you are trying to say it just makes it slower for them to read it. In turn you will get less replies to your topic. Spelling is also important, so try to use a spellchecker when you are unsure, grammar is a little less important, but it does help the flow of your post when someone comes to read it.

I should probably also mention that whilst you may want to post a multitude of topics in the excitement of your arrival you should limit yourself to posting around 3-4 new topics at the maximum in each forum, otherwise people may get the wrong idea and think you are spamming the place up.

The majority of the forums are fairly self explanatory, we have a forum for each major console, one for sports, one for retro gaming, the wrestling forum still draws a crowd, we have one for PC gaming, one for movies/books/tv and a general forum for any game related chat.

The forums that i havent mentioned so far are a little more special, the site bugs and customer service forum is where you should go to annoy the staffies with your post suggestions/queries with regard to the website as well as for any queries regarding orders you have placed with Special Reserve, this forum has the most staff presence, so is the place to go for the quickest answers. Typical posts in here look like "OMG where is my order?!?", "IB i s Guilty" and "Why is the site broke?".

The Life and Everything forum is where you go to engage in conversation on the more important issues, typically anything news related or philosophical will go in here. Posters of note in here include (but are not limited to) Goatboy, Light and Meka Dragon. There are loads more, but they usually frequent the other forums as well. Typical topics include "why you should believe in god", "why you shouldnt believe in god" and "YH's QOTD".

The Future of Gaming (prime topics) forum is where you will wont to post game related topics which you want to discuss seriously with other members, whether you want to debate about the state of the industry or talk about where you think gaming is heading in the future, this is the place for you. Typical topics include "Virtual Reality topic #456", "Girl Gamers: Do they Suck?" and occasionally "wht consul is bst?".

The Web Design, PC, Internet and Freeola thread is where you go when you need technical advise or just a general discussion about PC hardware and programming, i regularly pop in there, but there are also a few other users who have an excellent knowledge of what they are talking about, look out for Turbonutter, Tyla, Adrian, Tigmalla and Notorious Biggles. Typical topics include "why is there smoke coming from my computer?", "building a computer" and "what do you think of my website?"

When you first arrive you will have the status of "Just arrived Today", this will change to "Newbie" after a few days, to get to regular status you need to have 300 posts and 10,000 words to your name. You can check how many you have posted by clicking on your name beside your post. Please dont spam the forum to get to regular status, it will win you more enemies than friends.

I should also mention that every 3 months an election is held to elect the next notable, this is a user who brings something to the forums and basically makes it an enjoyable place to visit. After election the notable has a golden coloured name and the respect from most of the forum (usually).

Since ive rambled on for so long now, i think i will just let you get on and do your first post.

(I have omitted a guide to the top 100 posters, because who the hell will bother reading that?)
