Another free game up for grabs - best walkthrough/guide gets the prize. I'll let Silent Thunder give you the lowdown:

A walkthrough for the forums. Maybe it could help all the nice JATs and newbies by getting to know all the users. Basically you take the whole list of posters, I think the top posters for the last 30 days would be best as these guys and gals are still around and write a little guide to them. Whether it be they eat newbies or adore them and what forums they hang out in etc. It would be nothing personal like "They like chips and pizza" because well.. it's the Internet. Just a little friendly guide to all the users.

Also when ether a JAT / Newbie signs up they will probably feel slightly overwhelmed, this can easily be solved with a guide to the forums and how to get started. And where to post certain topics etc.

And like all the Extra GADs you obviously won't want it to be too serious so the guides would try to be comical and slightly 'wacky' as it were. Also improving the atmosphere of the forums to new users, if they see a serious walkthrough / guide to the users and forums they will think: boring. But seeing a funny one will make them want to stay because ukchatforums.com is a fun, friendly place.

So a summary:

> A guide to all the forums on ukchatforums.com, what to post where etc.

> A guide to the top 100 posters in the last 30 days or something a long these lines - just make sure the guide covers all the members who are still around.

> A guide / walkthrough how to get started at ukchatforums.com E.g. Introduce yourself in General Chat

You guide won't have to follow this exact structure, but gives you a good idea of what we're looking for.

Best entry will of course win a game of your choice and hopefully see your thread stickied for all to see.

Closing date is 10pm on October 14th.

Good luck to all who choose to enter!

Everyone who posts on UKchatforums.com must abide by these rules or face a penalty - break the rules and you will be warned or banned. We think you'll find them fair.

Do not spam - Spamming is unnecessarily filling our forums full of pointless posts that serve no purpose to anyone. This includes posting the same message over and over again, posting countless topics on the same subject and replying to people's posts purely to boost your word count. Anyone who is found to be excessively spamming will be warned and will have their posts deleted. If they continue, they will be banned.

Do not swear - These forums are viewed by children, and as such, we ask you to keep bad language off of the forums. Although there is a swear filter on the site to stop innappropriate text from appearing, it cannot possibly cover every eventuality so we ask you to be vigilant and report any bad language using the links provided. Trying to break the swear filter will result in a warning, and if the user persists in misbehaving then we will issue a banning. Please keep the forums clean.

Do not post offensive material - In order to keep these forums a nice place to visit, we ask you that you do not post any material which might be considered offensive - any racist or bigoted posts will be removed, along with the user. We welcome freedom of speech, but ill-informed, ignorant comments will not be accepted. We also ask you not to post links to any inappropriate sites which may contain contents not suitable for users on our site.

Do not link to illegal downloads - Please do not link to any pirated or illegal software/files, as we can be held responsible. Please do not share illegal MP3 files over our chat forums. Any posts pertaining to or mentioning illegal material will be removed.

Do not troll or cause trouble - Anyone found to be purposely winding up other users (trolling) or causing trouble (eg. trying to break the site, using other people's usernames etc.) will be warned - we're providing a place for you to visit, and we'd ask you to respect our rules and behave yourself. If you cannot follow these simple regulations then we will have to ask you to leave. If necessary, we can pass your details on to higher authority should we deem it a serious enough offence.

Do not post links to our competitors - As a retail site, we reserve the right to remove or edit any posts that contain mentions of or links to our competititors. Users that persist in doing so will be warned or banned if necessary.

Do not post copied material - This rule applies to our chat forums, our reviews site at UKreviews.com and our walkthroughs site at UKwalkthroughs.com. Do not post material that was not written by yourself, or if you have to, give the original author credit. Anyone found to be continually posting copied material will have their posts deleted, and will be warned. If you wish to report a post as copied, please make sure you have the original source before doing so.

We reserve the right to update and change these rules as we see fit, and to warn/ban any users we feel are acting innappropriately. Please respect these rules and enjoy your time on UKchatforums.com.

My entry:

The chances are, if you're reading this, then you're too retarded to understand how something as simple as an internet forum actually works and operates. Thus, go away, and never return. There's enough idiots already frequenting here.

The SR forums are a simple place, full of simple people. Well not everyone is simple but after a few days of reading and replying to posts you'll get the hang of things and learn what is accepted and what isn't.
Just to make things even easier though this handy little walkthrough of the forums will give you an insight into getting of to a good start.

First of all though some safety aspects you should be aware off.
All your personal details are safe on this site, other users only see your user name and tagline.
Make sure you don't give out any personal information on the site such as your name, address, phone numbers or e-mail addresses that contain your full name. As much as we would hope everyone out there has decent intentions when browsing these forums you can never really be sure.

So how do you get started?
Well once you have signed up and registered you'll find a list of forums to choose from - most are self explanitory but the main ones you will want to know about are General Chat and the SR Site Bugs and Customer Services.

First step should be to notice the main rules.
Do not spam.
Do not swear.
Do not post offensive material.
Do not link to illegal downloads.
Do not troll (wind up other users) or cause trouble.
Do not post links to competitor companies.
Do not post copied material.

If you think you can follow them then you are ready to post.

General Chat is exactly what it sounds like, chat about anything and everything here (well as long as it wouldn't be better placed in one of the other specific forums). A good start would be to make a topic and introduce yourself. Describe your interests etc and try make some new friends.

The SR Site Bugs and Customer Service forum is where you post any problems you have concerning the forums and special reserve sites or with any orders you have made through the site. Got a problem then let them know and someone will do their best to help you out.

Try and post your chat messages in the appropriate forums, games in the ralated games forums, film and music stuff in the Movies, Music, TV and books forum and sports stuff in the sports forum. It is simple and it will stop other members from giveing you hassle about posting in the wrong areas.

On the forums you will also noticed various types of users.
These are:
JAT's - Just arrived today who are those who have registered within the last 24 hours.

Newbies are the users who are fairly new to the site.

Regular - Users who have posted more than 300 messages totalling more than 10,000 words and have also been registered for more than 21 days.

Notables are users who have been elected as offering something a little special to the forums. Most are well respected and post messages usually worth reading. A new notable is elected on these forums every three months. Someday it could be you!

Staff are exactly what you would expect them to be - people who work for special reserve.

My best advice to starting on the forums is to read a few posts started by other folk, look at the kind of standard of the topics posted. Don't use txt chat, just use plain english that can be understanded and that way people will read it and reply to it. If you signed up in hope to win free games then the best advice is to read some of the winning entries to see the standard you must match or beat to be in with a chance. Also don't get annoyed if you fail to winm just keep trying.

If you do win gameaday then all non members are awarded with a free membership to special reserve. If you are already a member then winning gameaday entitles you to choose any free game. You may also claim games that are not yet released.

You'll find that there are a lot of members with different tastes and posting styles, some folk just like the chat and are here for a laugh. Others are here for some interesting discussions or to share a writing talent they have. After a few weeks on here you'll soon begin to learn the people you like and those you dislike.

All thats left to say is welcome to these forums and happy posting...
