The "Freeola Customer Forum" forum, which includes Retro Game Reviews, has been archived and is now read-only. You cannot post here or create a new thread or review on this forum.
A walkthrough for the forums. Maybe it could help all the nice JATs and newbies by getting to know all the users. Basically you take the whole list of posters, I think the top posters for the last 30 days would be best as these guys and gals are still around and write a little guide to them. Whether it be they eat newbies or adore them and what forums they hang out in etc. It would be nothing personal like "They like chips and pizza" because well.. it's the Internet. Just a little friendly guide to all the users.
Also when ether a JAT / Newbie signs up they will probably feel slightly overwhelmed, this can easily be solved with a guide to the forums and how to get started. And where to post certain topics etc.
And like all the Extra GADs you obviously won't want it to be too serious so the guides would try to be comical and slightly 'wacky' as it were. Also improving the atmosphere of the forums to new users, if they see a serious walkthrough / guide to the users and forums they will think: boring. But seeing a funny one will make them want to stay because ukchatforums.com is a fun, friendly place.
So a summary:
> A guide to all the forums on ukchatforums.com, what to post where etc.
> A guide to the top 100 posters in the last 30 days or something a long these lines - just make sure the guide covers all the members who are still around.
> A guide / walkthrough how to get started at ukchatforums.com E.g. Introduce yourself in General Chat
You guide won't have to follow this exact structure, but gives you a good idea of what we're looking for.
Best entry will of course win a game of your choice and hopefully see your thread stickied for all to see.
Closing date is 10pm on October 14th.
Good luck to all who choose to enter!

Yes. Or at least the option, to send it to the GAD address, thus concealing that. Can you do that?
These forums are an excellent place, frequented by many interesting personalities, and theres always something enjoyable to read on here, and many total strangers to interact with.
This Forum Walkthrough is designed to help guide young UKchatforum newbies into the ways of the forum, to explain some of the rules and hopefully answer any questions you may have about the site.
The first formality is the strict and scary dos and donts section;
Dont:
Spam. Spam is ok in a sandwich if you dont have anything better to use, but spam on the forums is one of the most heinous cardinal sins to commit, so dont do it! Theres nothing that annoys the chat forum regulars more than loads of horrid spam. Make topics yes, but not too many rubbish ones.
Swear. We all fly off the handle and swear every now and again. But swearing on the forum is a big no no. There is a swear filter in place, but some cheeky monkeys enjoy finding ways around the filter and posting filth. This is frowned upon. Racial discrimination or using racist language is also not permitted.
Link to porn or other nasty sordid places. Pictures of naked ladies (or men) have a place, but sadly that place is not on UKchatforums. So please, dont post links to any dodgy websites, as UKchatforums is a family forum, and many of the members may not be ready to see images of humans or animals in compromising positions. Posting links to illegal download sites and dodgy pyramid schemes are also forbidden.
Bully. Bullying isnt particularly nice in real life, and its also not particularly nice on a chat forum either, so dont pick on people.
Post links to Special Reserves rivals. The business of selling video games is a very cut and thrust one, and theres always plenty of competition between various retailers for your trade. So, Special Reserve dont appreciate you posting links to their rivals on their own website.
Basically, if you post anything too offensive or inappropriate, youll run the risk of being banned from the site. Remember, the nicer you are to the UKchatforum members, the nicer theyll be to you in return.
Do:
Speak the Queens English. Forum members dont enjoy reading pages of garbled text talk words. So please write properly, without resorting to using txt talk!
Praise the staff. A little bit of brown-nosing goes a long way.
Report bad stuff. Sometimes you may come across a particularly offensive post or some stupid spam. If this happens you can click on the Report this post button below the post and if the post is offensive or spammy, itll be removed from the site. Only use this sparingly though, as overdoing the reporting probably cheeses off the staff. Keep an eye out for dodgy stuff, as reporting can help keep the forums a nice clean and innocent place.
Have fun! Theres a wide range of things to do on the forum, and numerous different sections to enjoy:
General Chat is the most visited forum, with a wide range of topics to see. There are specific Sony, Nintendo, Microsoft, PC and retro gaming forums, to discuss all things game related for your chosen format/s, and the Future of Gaming (Prime Topics) forum is for intelligent topics about the world of video games.
If youre having technical problems with any aspect of your PC life, you can visit the Web Design, PC Internet and Freeola forum for plenty of help from some clever people.
You can post intelligent and intellectual writings, stories and take part in various debates about a serious things like religion, politics and general life subjects in the Life and Everything (Intelligent Discussion) forum.
Theres a Movies, Music, TV and Books forum, a sport forum, and you can even talk about big greasy men wearing tiny spandex pants and sequined capes in the WWE forum.
Theres a SR Site Bugs and Customer Service forum, where you can get help about all manner of things, problems with the site, problems with orders, membership queries, technical questions about products Special Reserve stock etc.
Last but not least, you can also visit the UKchatforum.com Archive, to explore loads of old topics.
Member status:
When you register for the forums, youre screen name will be in red and youll be known as a Just Arrived. After 24 hours though, youll turn into a darker shade of red (or a brownish-maroon perhaps) and be a Newbie. To attain the Regular status and a funky purple colour, youll need to have been registered for more than 21 days and have posted 300 or more messages totalling 10,000 or more words.
Who are those people with gold names? The golden named people are Special Reserve Notables, a higher echelon of poster; Notables are some of the most popular people on the forum. To become a Notable, youll need to win the Notable Vote, one of which is held roughly every 3 months. The person who gets the most votes from members becomes a Notable.
There are staff members on the forum too, wholl contribute to the site with both normal posting and Special Reserve related help; Staff Newbies have green names, whilst Staff Regulars are turquoise. Look out for them if youre in need of assistance.
Gameaday:
Gameaday is Special Reserves much lauded and unrivalled daily competition, which gives anybody the chance to win a gamea day. Thats right, as the name suggests, you can win a game of your choice simply by entering this competition.
How do I enter?
There are a few different ways of winning Gameaday:
1) Write a review: Special Reserve sell oodles of interesting things; PC and video games, dvds, computer hardware, digital cameras, dvd players and more. Simply write a good review for any of their products, and if the review is good enough, it may win a prize! Whats a good review? I hear you ask. A good review would include plenty of information about the product, combined with plenty of personal opinions about said product. You have 3000 characters at your disposal in a review, so use them wisely. Short little reviews consisting of only a few lines dont tend to win, so get tapping away at those keys!
2) Write a game walkthrough: Game walkthroughs are fairly tough to produce, as a good quality one can take plenty of time to compile, but fear not, the Gameaday judges smile down on a good walkthrough. Dont copy and paste walkthroughs from other places though, it has to be all your own work.
3) Contribute to UKchatforums: If you write a particularly good post on the forums, you could win. It could be a story, an intelligent topic, a humorous topic or just something very well written. Over time youll begin to learn what kind of posts win Gameaday, and hopefully youll be able to contribute some good stuff for others to read and enjoy.
4) Adding cheats to the site: They say cheaters never prosper, but thats not always the case, as adding game cheats to the site can give you a chance of winning.
5) Extra Gameaday: Special Reserve will occasionally run a special "EGAD" competition alongside the regular competition. The Extra Gameday competition varies, and has in the past included such tasks as designing a Special Reserve mascot, Special Reserve related Flash game, banner designing, and even an EGAD to help decide what the next EGAD will be!
Note: If youre caught entering a copied review, walkthrough or post, the Special Reserve hounds will be unleashed to hunt you down.
Be fair to others: dont cheat!!
The Gameaday winners list is updated fairly regularly, so check often to see if anything youve contributed has won.
Note: If the Gameaday winners list hasnt been updated for a while, dont whine and whinge to the staff, as that annoys them, just relax, take deep breaths and be cool like Fonzie. The list WILL updateeventually.
If you win Gameaday and are already a member of Special Reserve, then youll be able to claim a game of your choice, non-members will win a 1-year membership and a free gift of their choice.
Visit the Gameaday homepage http://gameaday.co.uk/ for more information on Gameaday.
If you have any problems or queries about anything on the site, you can contact Special Reserve here: http://special.reserve.co.uk/common/about/contacts.php or you can ask a question in the Customer Service forum.
I guess it can be kind of daunting if youre a new member on a forum, as you dont really know what to expect, but if you act sensibly and post well, Im sure youll be welcomed with open arms. There are all kinds of posters here who have their own personalities, likes and dislikes, and after a while youll get to know them pretty well.
The forum is an enjoyable place to visit, so I hope you enjoy your time here.

I think Snuggly said he was working on something similar.
*looks for post*
EDIT:
Found it. http://ukchatforums.reserve.co.uk/display_messages.php?threadid=107695&forumid=414
Snuggly's post about half way up. I guess the recent forum hitches have meant its taking a bit longer to go live.
