I know some of you will point out the fact that, in spite of the loss compared to last year's earnings, Nintendo has still accrued a profit to the tune of $600,000,000. While that is a large sum of money it needs to be realized that the amount of that profit is not too far from being HALF of their previous year's profits. That means that Nintendo has that much money LESS to put into things like research and development for things like new games and new systems. Also, game companies are less likely to put their time and money into a company that posts losses as massive as 43%. If this trend continues, it could have some nasty repercussions. People could lose their jobs (I feel sure some heads have already rolled after the news of a profit loss this significant), for one thing. And companies will not want to invest in another company that will not post a meaningful profit for their efforts. So yeah, Nintendo still posted a profit. But when that profit is in the shadow of a previous year that was 43% HIGHER, then the 'profit' tends to lose significance. Just some things to consider.

The Gamecube is costing Nintendo big and sagging sales are a large part of their problem, ditch the deadwood before it's to late.

Wow Cycloon you are right, I was, for a second, fooled to believing I was in reality.

But it looks like we've both slipped in to MacT-scoretosh world and I must say, everything is backwards here.

No but Dringo, that's irrelevant, because on a DS you have a really crap screen, and all Japanese people like good screens, and Sony always make good products, so logically, the PSP will outsell the DS by 10,000,000 to 1 each week.

Why?

Because I said so.

LOL! The PSP isn't outselling the DS in Japan.

Last week sales on the PSP were higher than the DS by 10,000

The week before sales of the DS were higher than the PSP by over 40,000

Now, as a bussiness, I know who I'd rather be. Especially as Sony are making a larger loss on the PSP (a very large loss) than Nintendo are on the DS.

Your average chav isn't going to want his girlfriend see one infront of his 72" Sony TV and next to his pictures of Vin Diesel though.

omg an smv!

Hopefully SR'll figure out which regular Top Score actually is and warn them, or whatever.

TScore is rubbish because he just spouts nonce sense. Macitosh is much more enjoyable because all of his arguments are based completely on conjecture and assumption, yet all stated as hard and fast fact. It's great.

Beasue who wants to play a game on their handheld that they've already got for their console?

It's fair enough when it's older games, as you may not have played them for a while, but with brand new games, you'd rather play it on whatever TV you've got (Surely if you've got a Lexus and a wife you'll have a huge 50 inch rear-projection TV or something, surely 50" is better than 4")

We like debate here and that's what the forums are for, but what you're doing can only be described as trolling - that is, deliberately posting provocative messages designed to annoy people or get a rise out of them. Just look at your tagline.

I'm not sure but I think Fosco already banned you once, and I think it was for exactly that.

Someone made a good point earlier - most people here are gamers, not economists, and disparaging Nintendo's profits is a weak argument at best. Your crusade against the DS is becoming tiring as well as extremely repetitive.

Stop trolling please - it's making the Nintendo forum a drag to read.
