(Sheepy turns up Paranoid Android to get inspiration)
Whats This?(do you get it?). As I look down the list I see some views that do not support Radiohead. Well they are one of those bands " You love them " " You hate them ".
I first got into Radiohead in about 1997, round about the time of the release of Ok Computer. I was only 12 at the time so thats why I had not been into them when The Bends and Pablo Honey were out.
I would rate Ok Computer as my favourite album in my collection of many. I can round up every last detail of the album in one word 'GENIUS'. From the opening song of 'Airbag' you know something special is about to unfold. You want to hear the next song but at the same time want the current one to last forever. And just over 2 mins into Paranoid Android it changes from being a very good album to one that will remain in your CD Player for the next 25 years.
I now own every album and it is probably the best money I have every spent on music, there is not a disapoinment anywhere in all four albumns.
Pablo Honey= The foundations of a top band. This was released in 1993 and at first made no impact anywhere then 'Creep' became the rock song of the year in America then followed in Britain. Not a perfect album but pretty close.
The Bends= Now this is where everything began to fall into place. 1995 release, I don't think their is a song on this album I would ever skip if it were on. Just is my favourite on the album, while High and Dry is what I sing when I am drunk to try and pull, it usually never works :D. My Iron Lung I listen to just to give myself a boost. A truly great album that inspires you.
Ok Computer= I explained briefly above. This album is truly great. This made Radiohead world famous, from tokyo to Barcelona. I can't really say anymore than brilliant.
Kid A= Many of the new found fans were expecting an 'Ok Computer2' especially after the three year break, but what appeared on the shelves March last year was the complete opposite. I bought the video of the Radiohead tour in Japan (Ok Computer Tour) and at the start what I saw was a band hungry to travel and play good music to new cultures etc. By the end of the tour I saw a tired, bored band and were not happy with the fame at all and getting good reviews all the time. I think they are a band that feel happy and do their best work, when they are critisised and don't commercialise. I think after Ok Computer they wanted to change back to their routes so made a complete different sound which I think they planned not to go down well with the critics. When I first listened to it I was unsure, but upon three times I was hooked and it never came out my CD Player until May that year. Another top album no matter what anyone says.
Amnesiac= This album is too be slightly similar to Kid A but still different in its own way. I have heard other songs from it and not just Pyramid Song (good but not brilliant) and they are better. Another great album I believe.
Well there is my round up of albums. I belive they are one of the most talented bands ever and at present the best in the world, and contenders for best band ever.
(By the time I finished this No Surprises was noe on :D)
Radiohead facts= 1)They were orignally called 'On a Friday'
2) They guy Jonny can play nearly every instrument known to man and was ONLY 14 WHEN PABLO HONEY WAS BEING MADE!
Thanks very much if you read this - SHEEPY
> Did anyone manage to get the Madonna tickets!? £125 per ticket
> for some of them, and all sold out in like an hour!! Amazing really,
> but she is so talented, her and good old Will Orbit!
My girlfriend got two at £60 per head.
Disgraceful considering the Stereo Mcs are charging £10.
Stereo Mc's new one is out Monday 28th.
9 years wait.
COME ON THE STEREOS!!!!!!!!!
"Showbiz" was Radiohead lite, but Muse have discovered overdrive pedals and are coming to their own.
Kid A - I didnt dislike it, just thought "Er...ok...". Some tracks were good, some weren't. "Motion Picture Sountrack" sounded like someone dying slowly.
A live version I have is haunting, beautiful and almost optimistic - not the mournful dirge that closes this album.
Pyramid Song - Just sounds like they're bored to me. Nice music but Thom sounds like "I just cant be damned to sing here"
You and Whose Army - I like this a lot, almost sounds like Radiohead discovering passion again.
I class Radiohead as one of my fav bands, just can't get to grips with this new "What's the point of singing like you know I can or playing guitars anymore?" direction.
Not saying every song has to be the same, just every song should sound like a band that is still hungry.
Look at OK Computer, every single song sounded different in tone, pace, energy.
Airbag - Typical Radiohead fare.
Paranoid Android - Sweeping, almost operatic in structure
Subteranean - Etheral, light, wistful
Exit Music - Passionate, repressed hatred (we hope that you choke)
Let Down - Maudlin, resigned at people going fast everywhere
Karma Police - Straight Forward Radiohead. Perfect
Fitter Happier - an more scathing attack on new-town lifestyle I have yet to hear
Electioneering - Careening, almost losing it energy
Climbing Up The Walls - Seething, terrifying and menacing
No Surprises - A sister track to Fitter, Happier. Serene, melencholic
The Tourist - gently wind down from the pace of thins
Each song was unique but still brilliant.
Kid A - Electronica, self-indulgent band that hates the fact they are worshipped by everyone.
But that's just my opinion
