Say "YES, I like it" if you think it is a good idea to have the new "identifiers" under your name. The four identifiers (dare I say "status") are"
Staff
Newbie
Regular
Notable
Vote "NO, I don't like it" if they don't suit you.
Thanks
(When do I get to go up to Newbie?)
Regular status arrives after 300 posts providing they contain over 7500 words.
One Notable is voted in every three months.
Firstly: I know that you personally would never look down on a newbie, but it is used by some to degrade others, so perhaps member is a good idea.
Secondly: (I know this wasn`t your choice, but...) Why aren`t you a notable? I realise your post count is less than some, but (and I think anybody in the PS2 forum and probably the FOG too will agree) you are always coming up with helpful advice and useful knowledge for anybody who asks. You`ve helped me out loads of times!
Hopefully you`ll become a notable in three months time!
I'll pop over to the lesser used forums (MIST, Films, Music) a couple of times a day, to see whats going on...
But on the whole I'm in FOG...
This means I miss out on a lot of the PS2, Dreamcast, etc... forum posters...
So if someone comes over from one of theose forums and makes a post in FOG, etc... I'll know there a regular to the site... and not just a randome newbie...
huh?
my piont is that the lowest rank should be a neutral term that people shouldn't be unhappy with. Something like 'member'.
Another idea, would be personalised descriptions. You could give some of the regulars unique descriptions which reflect their posting habits and personalities.
eg, meka could have 'prolific', or Ant could have 'Sugar addict' or something.
Though I`d just like to mention that I preferred the extra anonymity that is lost by being labelled in this way. It was often easier to discuss things if nobody thought you were regular or with it. :-)
Seriously though, I think its sort of a good idea.
