I'm getting a DVD player and I would like to know what pluging an amplifier into it would do to the sound. I already have the sound coming out of my stero for my current DVD player. Would it increase the bass or what?

No, at different times. There's a plug socket on the back of my stero too. Can't remember what it's for. Have to look in the manual!

When I say "stereo" I meant "the box with the buttons/lights on", not "left and right".

No they're not. If he's got pre-amplifier outputs (pre-out) then he can plug his sub directly into them.
