For starters, let me say i hate this new way to name the leagues. Calling them Division 1, 2 and 3 made alot more sense. None the less...

Its nearly that time again! The season for us lot kicks off next weekend, after, for me, what seemed like a long summer, and i for one cant wait for the season to start.

As always, i have my season ticket and im pretty confident of what The Owls can achieve this season, im just hoping this season can be the one where the rot stops, and we gain promotion. We have a whole new team almost. We released 15 players last season, and signed 11 this, including ex Southampton captain Chrissy Marsden, and then a squad of good young players who all look the part to go with him

We have 2 friendlies left against the Bolton and Everton, and in our previous friendlies we have looked good.

I know there are a number of you lot who support teams in the lower leagues, so lets not let this forum be over run by Premiership talk and such. After all, our clubs are just as important as the bigger clubs.

So what are your hopes and fears for the new season? Who you looking forward to playing the most?

Up the Owls!!

City lost 2 - 1 in extra time to Notts County on Wednesday, but after we scored the first goald (penalty after 5 minutes - yes we actually scored it) we played crap. As I've said before we always sit back instead of going for another. Plus when we play 'worse' clubs we don't play as good as they drag us down to their standards. Where as when we played Bolton it was champagne football.

Today we lost 3 - 2 to Chesterfield. We threw away a 2 - 0 lead as well. We scored 1 at the ends of the first half and one near the start of the second then played alright. But with about six minutes to go we gave away a penalty when there was no need to as the cross was going wide. They were lifted and our heads went down and they went and scored another two. We need to learn not to sit back and then we won't lose and we could win 3 / 4 nil as we would be pushing and have possetion so we could score. I am so annoyed.

Owls lost to Tranmere last night. Didnt actually get to the game, but sounded like the Ref and Officials left alot to be desired, but thats pretty much a common factor in most of the games played at this level.

Still not a bad start to the season, 3 wins and 2 games lost. We are down to the bare bones in defence for Mondays home game against Oldham though, so the next few weeks could be tough...

As a little side note though, Its Sheff U vs Leeds tomorrow. All i have to say is...come on Leeds!

City have got Notts County tonight in the cup. We should win this, although we don't normally have good cup runs. We need them this season to get a little extra money. Should be a good match anyway tonight though. Post score and that later or tomorrow.

C'MON CITY!!!

I wonder how DW feels today, having handed Brian Tinnion his first victory in-charge of Bristol City? ;D

It was only 1-0, but it's a little reassuring to see us get a win under our belts. At last! Now, we just need to do something like that in the league... Before you know it, we could be on poorer form than flamin' Rovers down in Division Three (sorry, "League 2")!

Having seen you play tonight, Jamie McMaster needs to start or get a decent run. Looked sharp, skillfull, and was a right handfull for Town when he came on, and had two good chances for some goals.

The game tonight itself wasnt too bad, but nothing to write home about. Good goal, Town were unlucky to score, but never really looked too threatening. Both teams need to improve though.

One final word...Ricketts. Am i the only one who thinks he is a total waste of space? He did nothing tonight except hit the bar once which helped out with the goal, but other than that, i cant see what he adds to the team. Even his hold up play isnt that good as he cant distribute the ball. Its only one game, but hes a player i have never ever rated. How he has a cap is beyond belief.

Anyway, this a post filled too much with Town and Leeds for my liking....

Tomorrow Owls play Walsall at home in the cup, im going, but in all honesty im not too concerned about the result. Think it will be a reserve team out, and i wouldnt mind that considering we have a game Friday night and Monday afternoon. But a win tomorrow would be welcomed, keeps our run going, and a nice run in the cup is always a good thing. So we'll see.

Up the Owls!!

Lucky you. T'other half got drunk other week and was offered a spare ticket. Figuring (correctly as it happens) that I would be busy he accepted it so I'm not going. I would have cancelled what I was doing to go as well :(

Oh well, hope you enjoy the game. I'll skip the reality test and go for a Town win :)

Over the years I've become very jaded after many bad experiences with customer services, you have bucked the trend. Polite and efficient from the Freeola team, well done to all involved.
