But Azul, I thought 'you' could spot a completely overhyped player that isn't worth anything near the absurd amounts being put forward...

Thank you, at least someone else can see that 4 goals in Euro 2004 does not a legend make.

I didn't jump on the Owen bandwagon after Argentina '98. I did, however, see him prove himself to be a world-class talent over the next few seasons. Owen's career high-point is not his wondergoal or a Germnay hatrick, it's winning European Player of the Year. And what do they base that on? Club form.

Now, I'm willing to take anyone on in this forum in an Owen argument, and I'll win, like I have done before, because - to be frank - I'm better than you.

He's one of the best strikers in the world, and his scoring record proves it. He's got a better goal-to-game ratio than Henry has for Arsenal, or Shearer has for Newcastle.

Colourless, Solskjaer and co, you want to get down on bended knee and ask Rooney if you may pleasure him - go ahead. You'll see me giving Rooney the praise when he deserves it. When he's played superbly for his club, consistently over the seasons. When he's won European Player of the Year. When his goals internationally don't come against smallfry like Japan or Switzerland. When he's proved himself to be as good as Michael Owen.

Michael Owen is one of the best players in the Premiership. One of the best players in the world. Now, I'm bored with all your crap against him just because Rooney outscored him at Euro 2004. May I remind you this is the same man you worshipped just 3 years ago, 5-1 style.

Deal with it.

Alright dude, if you say so. Owen may come back this season, no-one knows. But seriously, no-one can deny the fact that he is not the player that he once was.

Nah, he just doesnt jump on the bandwagon like the rest of you twonks.

He's been playing in the most defence minded team i've ever seen, hardly ideal for a striker. We'll see how it changes next season.....

True but we're not in trouble, then why are we in the transfer market still?

What? Sol Campbell should have scored the match-winning goal against Portugal... You can't claim his should have been, because Portugal scored a good goal. And played better than us.

His Germany hat-trick was like 3 years ago. That was when he was good duh.

You can't say things like that here.... Have some etiquette....

Couldn't have put it better myself; of course, people like to blindly ignore things like that when talking about Club form. Again, clearly forgetting how Owen score 20+ a season, EVERY season, regardless of how "bad" the team were last season.

And finally;

"there seems little prospect of Arsene Wenger even considering losing his main defender..."

And I'm still trying to get my head around how Sol Campbell is overhyped in comparison to Rooney.
I really, really am.
