Sony have decided to go ahead with the PS2.1...
What does this mean for current PS2 owners?
Whats going to happen with the future titles?
I have no idea what the alteration in the spec is... so I'm not sure what the implications are...
Anyone know what the changes are... and what this entails for the PS2 public?

What is the PS2.1????
The PS2.1 is the way Sony will be conqeuring the to hard to program for problem that the original PS2 has.
But theres a catch not all the PS2 will work on this new home entertainment unit because there will be a lot of changes to the microchips inside of it.
As a result of this there will be a decrease in it's clock speed which could result in worse graphics and slower playing times.
it is also an attempt for sony to make more money
Why is it being made????
It is being made because the PS2 is to hard to program for resulting in less third party developers, hence less games but also it could lose there best developing companies which means less high quality games.
This will result in less gamers buying the console, and no money being made.
What are it's upsides????
The PS2.1 can be mass produced a lot quicker than the original PS2 and you will get good games released quicker because it is easier to program for, resulting in more buyers.
It will also have a better DVD player than the original
Will it have any problems???
Probably, because sony will be trying to release it ASAP the things that they have changed may have glitches in.
How much will it cost??

Thats a rip off - I doubt anyone with a PS2 will go and buy the PS2.1! It is another scam from Sony to make more money!

Due to rushing the PS2 out Sony decided to go for a slightly lower spec system, which, given the game production troubles this caused... and the spec of the upcomming GC and X-Box, Sony have decided to change the spec of the PS2 back to the original spec... a PS2 V2
