Is dangerously addictive, almost impossibly deep, and is a truly marvellous management spectacle.

It is also frustrating beyond words, often truly ridiculous and is a cause of premature mental instability.

I love Football Manager '05

Ah, thanks.

Just a couple more questions though:

How is it that I can play Eddie Anaclet for England when it says his nationality is Tanzanian? Is this a glitch or is he a bit of a wild card like Ryan Giggs?

How do I change a player's shirt number?

International teams aren't very good to start off with, unless you're a manager who is divinding his time between club and international level management. There aren't many games, and yes, it does make sense to go on holiday. Note that squads are picked two weeks before games are played (World Cup picking is 3 weeks I think) so you know when to return from holiday. Then you can choose who you want.

The reason for players in your squad being different from the ones you picked is because players have picked up injuries and have therefore been replaced by whoever your assistant manager has deemed a worthy replacement. And his choice may not co-incide with your decisions.

Oh, and training can only be manually set-up with clubs.

He's been pretty damn good for me, and has scored well in both a 4-2-3-1 and a 4-4-2, so that shows he can play in either set up well.

In my first season (where I played 4-2-3-1) he scored 24 and had 9 assists in 34 appearences (30 starts, 4 from the bench), and in my second season (where I played the 4-4-2 diamond), he was even better, with 30 goals and 9 assists in 32 appearences (28 starts, 4 from the bench).

On form, him, Ariel Ortega and Marcelo Delgado are amazing up front. The thing is, though, none of them are really worth the money you'd have to pay for them. Palermo is injury prone, Delgado is close to retirement, and Ortega falls out with every manager he plays under. He's missed numerous training sessions and dislikes me, so I'm going to try and flog him off to Independiente, who are interested. At least I got him on a free from Newell's (whose manager, strangely enough, fell out with him). Disruptive little bassa.

I don't think that will help.

Is there a set date on which you have to pick your squad before a game, which I might be missing due to being on holiday?

It also might be because I think I clicked "Ask to Pick - Steve McClaren" at one point without knowing what it was. There doesn't seem to be a way to "turn off" whatever clicking that did though.

What the hell..?

I'm having problems managing England. I pick my squad, go on holiday until the next match, come back, and the squad is completely different - there are people like Lee Bowyer in there and no Ashley Cole. And there doesn't seem to be an obvious way to switch these players.

There also doesn't seem to be any way to train my players, although this might be because it's an international team.

Can anyone help?

Bah...you just killed my excitement :( I seriously hope that does not happen to me or I will get lots of rage. A few of my friends are getting it too and we're planning on playing it online along with Teamspeak, should be fun if it works.
