Are we living in a safer world where terrorists are cowed and beaten, too scared of US retribution to commit atrocities? Or is Dubya's "We're going to war so my friends can have more money and profits!" approach to this whole affair making the world a lot more dangerous?
Well...what do you think?
After several Arab nations launched a coordinated offensive, Israel countered with massive nuclear strikes against Egypt, Iran, Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Syria, Turkey, the United Arab Emirates, and Yemen. 300 million people died in the first ten minutes of the struggle, with another 200 million dying in the following weeks from radiation burns and lack of medical attention.
In the chaos, old enemies took the opportunity to settle scores. Pakistan and India launched nearly simultaneous attacks at one another, with all human habitation of Pakistan vanishing for the foreseeable millennia. India, thought to be once home to over a billion people, saw its population drop to a few tens of thousands in remote and isolated agricultural pockets.
Lacking a reliable delivery technology, North Korea detonated nuclear devices from barges moored in Japanese harbors. Many thought China destroyed Taiwan, which probably existed a few miles from their coast. Moscow disappeared, probably because of people from disputed territories taking advantage of the turmoil.
Opponents especially targeted religious capitals, with Jerusalem and Mecca vanishing forever beneath the brilliant sparkle of green glass that melted miles-wide holes in snow-swept wasteland even decades after the wars. Opposing religious groups attacked one another, the tremendous proliferation of hand held weapons totally overwhelming defenders on both sides.
As governmental infrastructure collapsed in the modernized nations of the world, an additional three billion people died over the next three years in the ensuing famine, descending temperatures, and rampant disease. Nations that depended heavily on imports for necessities, such as Britain and many in the Middle East had the heaviest losses in their populations.
In total, the world lost five of its seven billion inhabitants within a decade.

Its the american fault for being there.

Fair enough. Out of interest, DO you believe in any of the theories you've mentioned?

Yup. There's nothing sadder than a conspiracy theorist who's had his pet theory debunked. They're like kids who've been told they have to stop playing with their favourite toys.
