Discuss the Ashes here.

First up, which would you pick - Chris Read or Geraint Jones?

It would have to Chris Read for me. I just think he's better in all areas of his game than Jones. Fletcher doesn't seem to think so though...

Great stuff from Collingwood and Pietersen. England really needed to prove themselves with the bat and now they have to prove themselves with the ball. Getting the early wicket helps.

The score England put up should be enough to secure at least a draw. They've got to go out there and win it now.

Brilliant day for England. A double century for Collingwood, only the third Englishman to get one in Australia and a good solid innings from KP too. I think Freddie made the right choice to start the bowling, rather than give the ball to Harmy.

Nice to see we've improved from the last test lets hope we can keep it up.

If Collingwood and Pietersen can put on a few more runs and the rest of the line up can contribute as well hopefully the bowlers will have a good time against the Aussie batsmen to put us on top.

McGrath might be out just like in 2005. And England might be going for a two spinner attack, with England dropping Anderson for Monty probably if they do go for it. Should be an interesting test. :)

Damn fine Australian weather :(

On the plus side Vaughan could be back for the 4th test:

Yeah, although they did say there was a chance of thunderstorms in the afternoon at some point. That would have helped.

Yeah Ponting said he didn't force the follow on as he wanted the pitch to deteoriate a bit more before having a go at England a second time.

Even if Pietersen etc put in another good performance I don't think the rest of the team are good enough to support them to get a victory.

It's safe to say we need to vastly improve for ther second test :(

England defeated by 277 runs. Pietersen out in the first over of the day ended any slim chance of holding out for the day. The slight resistance was over pretty quickly when Jones got out.

Those cracks in the pitch were beastly.
