What do you think?
ZOE was released and I travelled swiftly down to GAME and bought the game. It was great! No, it was outstanding! I had now gained faith back into Sony, and of course the PS2.
The games, which are out today, don’t push the PS2 capabilities too much, but in the future there will be great games to come. The best IMO will be,
The Getaway- A game, which combines a bit of Driver with better graphics, and a bit of grand theft auto too. It is based around the streets of London, and I have seen a few screen shots, and believe me, they were so good, I wasn’t sure if they were computer graphics or an actual photo of London streets.
Red Faction- This game is set to be a great 3D-shoot em up. Again, the screen shots of the game look promising. Maybe this could be the Timesplitters beater that we have been waiting for.
Wipeout Fusion- Any fans of the original Wipeout series will be wetting themselves with excitement. Its gonna be tougher, faster and will get the speed indrelelene (can't spell that) right up.
ISS Pro Evolution- the footy games on the PS2 haven’t been up to scratch recently have they? Lets be honest, every FIFA game that comes out looks the same as the previous so lets just hope the new ISS will be more original.
G-Force- This is really a motorcyclist dream! The previous Motor bike games have been a little disappointing because of the lack of speed. Well, we can finally say goodbye to the old and welcome the new! This is just like a wipeout on wheels, only FASTER!
Of course I could mention MGS2 but I’m sure everybody will know all about it, or even played it! I won’t bother giving the game a description because you will know it anyway.
So, as you can see, the future of the PS2 is not a problem at all, infact the future of the PS2 is looking very promising indeed!
I really do hope that the PS2 will survive the launch of the GameCube and the X-Box because I don’t know if I can live without my PS2. I am really grateful to Sony for blessing me with the PS2. Some Playstation 2 owners are disappointed with their machine, and I can slightly understand this. Most peoples reasons are that there aren’t to many games out for the moment, which is true, but give it time, and you will be pleasantly surprised.
So, we can not start the war because not all the consoles are out yet. In my opinion the Gamecube will have better games on it than the PS2. I think that there will be more games to choose from on the PS2 though, some good and some will be bad. The Gamecube will always be better at producing quality platformers because it has the wonderful developer, Rare on their team. Rare have produced some very good games for the N64 such as Perfect dark, Goldeneye and many more so you can expect them to make something magical for the Gamecube too.
Many people look at console wars as a bad thing but as long as you don’t get people saying things like “Your consoles crap and mines the best” then it can be quite good. I am waited with baited breath to see what the future brings for us gamers.
Thanks for reading.

I'd say out of their entire respective catalogues, both console manufacturer's have allowed duds to creep onto their systems.
Out of all of Nintendo's games I'd say maybe 65% were good ones, but maybe only 20 'classic' titles in total.
Out of all of Sony's games, I'd say maybe 50% were good ones, but maybe 30 'classic' titles in total.
Sony always appealed to me more because of the variety of the genres that were made available to it, that's why I went to the PSX after the Megadrive instead of the N64. The PSX was out earlier, the graphics were better at the time, and in some cases still are, and it's RPGs were more adult orientated than the N64s at the time.
However, N64 have brought out some great games, like Goldeneye (still hailed as the greatest game ever), CBFD (genre setting), Mario Kart (multiplayer fun), and the Legend of Zelda Series (great RPGs).
But still Sony have offered more to me overall. And their affect on the gaming industry has been on the whole a positive one, without their serious competition Nintendo may not have jumped to the great achievements that they are currently producing today so quickly.
Sony have brought out Metal Gear Solid, a game that finally pushed the PSX to its limits, something that the N64 has yet to have happen to it, they brought out TOCA, one of the best racing games ever, they brought out Wipeout on the consoles debut, still a great looking game today, and of course they got SquareSoft to produce Final Fantasy 7, 8 and 9 for them, which PSX fans have raved about ever since, and which brought the RPG genre to the masses for the first time.
Both consoles are good, but I feel that developers have managed to squeeze a lot more out of the PSX (32-bit) then they have the N64 (64-bit), which leaves me with the impression that the N64 is either harder to develop for, or else it isn't as powerful as it should have been.
When X-Box hits the market, with its fantastic graphics (check the official site if you will for the streaming demos, truly jawbreaking), both Sony and Nintendo are going to have to work very hard to stay at the top of the tree with their PS2 and Gamecube, because in terms of power the X-Box has the potential to sweep all before it.
Sony, being so diversified in the electronics industry, could probably dig up the technology to bring out a console quick enough to combat this, the PS2 won't be up to the task (on paper at least, and from listening to comments from developers and manufacturers alike).
The Gamecube will be close, but again on paper the specs. just don't cut it, Nintendo will have to produce another console within the next 4 years to combat the X-box. It will depend on the games, of course, but I have the feeling that with the Sony established user base, they will be able to do it, whilst Nintendo will be left relying on their handheld income to keep them going.
Goldeneye
Jet Force
Banjo-Tooie
Banjo-Kazooie
Mario Kart
Mario 64
Mario Golf
Mario Tennis
Battle For Naboo
Rogue Squadron
Conker's Bad Fur Day
Pokemon Stadium
Donkey Kong
No Mercy
But to name a few, Nintendo64 may not have had as many games as the Playstation but the chance of it being a quality game was higher, much higher than the chance of playing a good PSX title...I think that a lot of PSX titles weren't justified because of the over hyped crap that that was put forward. Medal of Honour was good and personally I didn't think much of some of the 'berrer' titles like Soul Reaver and Tomb Raider.
