i think Link is the best. my friend thinks yoshi is the best.

I didn't see anyone complaining.

When has Mario been known to speak in videogames(the odd "here we go" and "it's-a-me" aside)? What about Link? Kirby? Hmmm, come to think of it, hardly any Nintendo characters can talk. The only thing that comes out of most of their mouths are screems and sometimes breathing. You guys sure do pick such silly things to complain about.

well in prime 2 there are quite a few luminoth's that talk to u. the reason retro didnt include any speech for her is because the only point of the prime game is you experience to game through samus' point of view. thus, by having no allies and nobody to speak to the gamer gets the feeling that they're alone and that helps give the game the unique atmosphere that it has. a similar kind of "lonliness" can be found in the resi series, but in 4 with ashley following u around everywhere the effect is somewhat distorted, but i guess it was worth that sacrifice in the end.
By not giving samus a voice, retro let the gamers imagination take which is potentially better than any speech could have been. a similar idea is used for link in OoT.

haha i love luigi too he's one of my faves in SSBM just becomes he has that move where he flies head first into anything. he's also sooooo overly camp its funny, i always choose his bright pink get-up in SSBM. im also a hugeee fox mccloud fan, shame about the new starfox though. i think in recent years Samus has to be on top. weird when u think how little dialect has been written for her.
