"Shawshank Redemption"

I'd never seen this before until yesterday. It was one of those films you hear about, they're always getting put in people's top 10 greatest films lists and suchlike - but I never bothered looking into it until a mate recomended that I bought it when we saw it for £4 in leeds.

Watched it last night and it's pretty damn great. Excellent story of friendship and stuff without being too soppy and over-dramatic. Nice balance of violence and humour with morals and meaning.

It's a short story and: yeah - it's good.

Is the book much good?

I didn't actually need to pay for my copy of th film as it was on the Tele at the time I was after all of SK's film adaptations. I thought it was my fav film of all time, and still is.

And you won't regret watching it either, I promise. It was in my top 5 movies and rightfully so, probably the best movie I have ever seen.

Gah so many films to catch up on DVD.
Nobody to go into the cinema to see these films that I have to wait till they're on DVD, I'd rather not go into the cinema on my own :p (I need a girlfriend :D)

Bestest film ever - no question.

Seen it loads of times and managed to get the missus to watch it (which is no mean feat - her favourite film is The Scarlet Pimpernel) and she liked it, too.

And this is exactly how its made its fortune. Not in the cinema, but by word of mouth. To some people its like curling up of the setee with their favorite blanket.

(I prefer the short story myself, its a little bleaker ;) )
