I just bought a new car, (well, 6 months old, but you know).
It's a BMW 318ti SE Compact and I pick it up on Monday.
I'm happy, although the insurance company made a mistook and having bought the car they then charged me 5 times more!

Bad idea, you don't accrue No-Claims that way.

Another bad idea. Those policies are practicall useless if you ever need to use your insurance.

doesn't make too much of a difference to be honest.

Don't think you could get a more secure car. And I did shop around - for AGES! Most places had the cheek to quote me £2000+!
although maybe I should take into consideration the fact that you live in different areas of the country. don't know if that makes any difference.
Go for a new insurance company.

'97 Saxo. It's up for sale though. It's crap.

21 since Feb.

Since I was 17.
I don't get it. No crashes, convictions, nothing. It's all crap :(

ha ha ha ha ha
jesus christ, they saw you people coming, didn't they. ;)
for a start I would have to strongly recommend you take the 'second driver' option on a parents policy. failing that get cheaper insurance such as third party, fire and theft, or third party only.
third, do an advanced driver course, that'll drop your premiums a bit. Get various security systems fitted to it, and SHOP AROUND for a better quote.
I really can't get over the idea of paying 2 grand a year to insure your car. I think the most I ever paid was about 800 nicker, and that was when I was 17. and don't forget - should you have a crash, you'll be expected to pay excess too.

What car you got? How old are you? How long have you been driving?
I was told that it would cost me £97 to change the car on my current insurance and then it would be £1,400 for the next year. I bought the car and then was told it would be £510 to change the car on my current insurance and then £1,900 for the next year!
I talked to a manager who then gave me a £40 discount...
I'm a little irritated.
