Artificial Intelligence in games is very important in games now.Without it nowadays in games,the experience would seemm well,a lot less realistic.New games nowadays are concentrating on the AI in games,look at the sure fire classic,Metal Gear Solid 2,Konami are really trying hard to create the perefect enemy that thinks and acts like you.You bleed when you are shoot,the guards will follow the trail of blood.If you shoot a guard to a point where he can still move he will call for backup or gather gurads near by the shoot you down.AI in a game makes the expereince even more beautiful.Another game that has just been released is the increadible Black and White,the AI in that game is just amazing.The creature you raise will be influenced by your actions,If you are bad thewn he will be bad,like pooing on the floor or throwing rocks at houses causing them to smash.Your villagers will also react to your actions.If you neglect them,their respect for you will drop.AI in games importance is increasing in every year of gaming.The new revolution in consoles will become more interested in AI power than flash graphics.

absolutely, goldeneye was paricularly poor at this and the guards were too stupid. for instance when you shoot near them they look both sides and then slowly turn round ready to be shot at.

I'd prefer the game with the best AI. Reason is that it will make the game more challenging- more real. At the moment, when I play goldeneye, for example, I wit for a guard to turn his back, and run past. I am playing against the computer code- not a real guard! If the code were made so real that a guard would hear u, or whatever, then I would feel like I was playing against a real, sentient guard with brains as good as mine!

Really reply! How important is AI??? Would u rather play a game with great AI, but average gameplay/story, or one with great story and gameplay, but average AI???

cheers fantasy,i may have exagerated .....on the graphics side.Graphics to me are very important but Ai also makes a game good...that was my main point

I agree, apart from the point about AI being more important than flash graphics.

I think it's more a case of finding a balance between all the elements of a game that is more important than just concentrating on one aspect of it.

A game that scores highly in all aspects of it's wholeness will do a lot better than one that just has great AI, or one that just has great graphics, or one that just has great gameplay.
