Cats are manipulative creatures who will suck up to anything if they think that they will get something from it ie food, power etc ... kinda like humans i guess
If there is a God, and he stuck his own bit of magic in the evolutionary process (and no, I'm not prepared to debate evolution again), then he did so because he didn't like all the power and the lack of recognition.
Therefore humans evolved. With the ability to worship and kiss his feet (metaphorically).
What do we get in return? A promise that we wont go to hell providing we accept his power.
That's just like the cat and his food. A cat will worship it's owner. Why? The owner provides it with food. If the owner did not, the cat would have no use for the owner and would fend for itself in the wild.
