When i left here last night i had one question i had to think about.
Why do we turn to being dark when we grow up, is it a natural process, does everyone have it?
After some thinking i decided that it came down to being protected, if you can't be seen you cant be hurt and yet i feel there is more to it.
Society says that we should be afraid of darkness as it is associated with all thing's bad, but we have such a negative media we are constantly told those in the shadows profit and get away with murder, isnt is confusing to say not playing by the rules is bad and yet we focus on that aspect and largely ignore the good people.
Is being dark a survival tactic or a way to get ahead? when does it change from one to the other?
Is being good showing weakness ? or is it the other way round ? who are the weak people? those who cheat to get ahead or those that stay honest and get left behind?
What is more important being good or being successful.
What is the point of law's when good people lose out because of it?
Survival of the fittest or survival of the honest?
Has morality f***ed us over ?

Heh, a regular income then?

Just don't underestimate us pub punks too much, eh? Surely the money will attract a few other decent players?

No i didnt think it would be appreciated if i walked in for the first time and took their money, and as i don't drink i would feel uncomfortable in a pub on my own, when i have annoyed the locals.
I'll get round to it at some point, it happens every week.

Muhammad Ali, as I remember it.

All the rest of it? I'll give it some thought and get back to you.

BTW, did you join the dark side and hustle yourself that £30 in the end? :^)

You can probably get further with more of a darkside, but unless you go all the way and extinguish your conciense then deep down you'll hate yourself for it, and you'll know that people will be ready to use the same underhand tactics on you, leaving you paranoid and never comfortable.

It's natural to have a darkside, but I've learnt in life that the nicer you are to people, the more likely they are to be nice back.
And if they're nasty back then who cares. They're just not worth thinking about anysway, just ignore them and enjoy the good in people...

sort of...

But then again, since I've been in 6th Form, I've only seen very few nasty people, so perhaps I've been shielded to an extent, and what worked for me wouldn't work for someone else...

But it's not just school. I'm working at MacDonalds, and there's one or two people I'd rather not be around but mostly I get on pretty well with most people, even though they all stress out because I'm too dreamy and work too slow! ;-D

I know from experience, good guys finish last.

As much as I may seem to be confident and often quite strong in the way I present myself on the forums, I am generally one of the 'good guys'.

Laws exist, and by and large, people get along nicely. In this country anyway. The trouble is, there is a distinction in the 'badness'. The lower level is a criminal, breaking the law in whatever way, the other is 'higher', in buisness and politics, and very often that is successful.

Morality is like anything we live in, a human construction. It is not the way to live, but it is the socially acceptable form of living that we take - the trouble is, some people abuse it - and many do not get away with it, while (usually much more powerful) people do. There does seem to be a fascination with this, in that 'nice guys finish last', but if it was the other way around, the saying would be 'bad guys finish last' - it's just the normality 'yearing' for the different, when in fact all it wants is to be left alone.
