Common thing most people can't accept. Why, does any god have to come from somewhere? Perhaps they are outside of time and any other limitations we can comprehend.
(highly simplified)
Make a cup of tea. Put the teabag in the cup, pour the water. put sugar (if required) and milk (if required) in. Stir. Serve.
Now, say for example that that cup of tea is your universe, and it contains time, matter, and a vast amount of galaxies and all the things that make up our universe. You are god of that universe.
Were you around before the cup of tea come into being ?
