A little hint. When you fill up with oil, make SURE and DOUBLY SURE you put the oil filler cap back on afterwards.

I (you guessed it) forgot. Cue nearly catching fire as oil ended up all over the engine block on my way to work yesterday, a 20 quid cap replacement cost, and no way of using the car for the next two days while the damn thing comes through the post.

Again. Replace the cap anbd save yourself pain and heartache............................

I wish I had a car to drive.
I wish I could drive actually.

£20?

were they laughing as you handed over your money? :D

the same thing happened to me a month ago, although I didn't forget to put it back on, I just didn't tighten it properly. I went to check my oil to find the engine covered in oil. I'd been running it for nearly a week on almost empty.

I topped that baby up with some fresh crude, replaced the cap for the poultry sum of £5, and was motoring again in no time.

It's a tough old boot my car. I treated it to a refilled washer fluid tank, for not packing up on me.

Pah!

Well, at least YOU can DRIVE YOUR car! :P

At least YOU'RE not paying £1,100-a-year on something that simply decorates your front driveway!

£20 and a bit of extra heating? That's nothing when you've "wasted" £160-worth of examiners' time and God-knows-how-much in 14-months-worth of £18.50-an-hour driving lessons!

:(

Fat assed cars, but they do the job. A mate had one. It was a nippy little beast compaired to my "handles like a stealth bomber" Peugeot 405 GLX.

I'd like to think so.

But I'm not manipulative, see.

This only applies to actual car owners ofcourse, Ford Ka's don't count. They belong in the kiddies aisle of Toys 'R' Us or a grannies discount store car park but only for show.

My uncle's a mechanic and one day he said a bloke came in to his garage in a Range Rover complaining of a funny rattle from his car. My uncle took it out and heard the rattle but couldn't identify it. He asked the bloke when it had started and he said "Two days ago, just after I got new tyres" - they removed the tyres, one at a time, and found a screwdriver rattling around inside the nearside front one!
